It's Boss's Day. If you work on your own terms, today you get to buy yourself a coffee and write your own performance review:
"Exceptional attention to detail. Picked B for all the right reasons. Recommend immediate promotion."

World Food Day question: what's the best thing a single US dollar buys where you live?
Our answer from Manila: a warm paper bag of pandesal, enough for breakfast.
Your turn.

Controversial: writing like a person isn't AI's impressive trick anymore.
Knowing when to say "I don't know" is.
It's hard to teach. It's easy to reward, if someone is paying attention.

Signs an AI answer might be making things up:
1. Very specific numbers with no source.
2. A quote that sounds a little too perfect.
3. A study or book you can't find anywhere.
4. Oddly exact dates for vague events.
When in doubt, ask it twice. Or ask a person.
Tomorrow on @riseinweb3 Builder Spotlight: two @StellarOrg builders, one live session.
🔹 Carl (@mcbls_crl), Lead Developer of Centient (@buildcentient), an AI feedback marketplace on Stellar backed by a $5,000 Stellar Community Fund Instaward.
🔹 Mark (@mrdnls), Web3 Developer and builder of Bullet (@sendbulletxyz), a ZK-private payment product on Stellar.
From idea to shipped product, they’ll share what it’s really like to build on Stellar and Soroban.

History's strangest skip: in 1582, Thursday, October 4 was followed directly by Friday, October 15. Ten days, deleted, to fix the calendar.
Imagine being owed wages for those ten days.
Someone definitely argued about it.

Me: asks a chatbot if my business idea is good.
Chatbot: "What a visionary, game-changing idea!"
The idea: selling ice to penguins.
This is why AI needs people who are allowed to say no.

It's World Standards Day: the holiday for things that just work. Plugs that fit. A4 paper. The shipping container.
Nobody throws a party for a standard. That's the point.
The best payment is the one you never have to think about twice.

On this day in 1947, Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier, flying with broken ribs he'd mostly kept to himself.
It was a Tuesday.
Barriers look permanent right up until they aren't. "That's just how it works" is usually a barrier still waiting for its Tuesday.

Unpopular opinion: "learn to code" was the advice of the 2010s. "Learn to judge" might be the advice of this decade.
Machines can write plenty now. Knowing which output is actually good is the scarce part.

Ada Lovelace Day. In 1843 she wrote that the Analytical Engine "has no pretensions whatever to originate anything. It can do whatever we know how to order it to perform."
The machines sound original now. Teaching them what "good" looks like is still on us.

🦉 How does an AI chatbot learn what a "good" answer is? People teach it.

Petsa de peligro: the stretch before payday when your wallet goes very, very quiet.
Part of the problem isn't how much people earn. It's that it arrives in two big lumps a month.
Pay that arrives as you work would make the 13th a lot less dramatic.

You can only judge one type of AI answer, forever. Pick:
A. Poems about cats
B. Explanations of tax law
C. Adobo recipes
D. Pickup lines
Defend your choice in the replies.

USDC, in plain words: a digital dollar.
One USDC is designed to stay worth one US dollar, backed by reserves held by the company that issues it.
Not a coin you hope goes up. A dollar that moves like a message.

Tita at the family lunch: "So, what do you do now?"
Me: "I teach AI."
Tita: "Ah, teacher! Public or private?"
Me: "...Freelance."
Tita: "Sayang. You should take the board exam."
Hot take: "prompt engineering" was mostly just writing clearly.
The people who are great at it were already great at emails, recipes and explaining the TV remote to their parents.
Clear writing is the oldest AI skill there is.
