My wife and I got a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house. With our 2 babies we use 2 of the bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, the family room, and the kitchen. The ideal space for a new family would be 2-3 bedroom townhome condo where you don't have to do yardwork but still have some area outside for kids to play.

This anchor baby thing feels pretty personal for me.

When my wife got pregnant the first time, I was already working for US-based media/company, and we seriously considered doing the anchor baby thing.

The reason we didn’t, ultimately, was moral: I just didn’t want to break the laws of a country I admired and loved.

This is why I’m so radicalized on illegal immigration: by definition ~anyone who chooses to do immigrate illegally is someone who’s not a good addition to a nation because they don’t have a mindset that values abiding by laws and norms.

It’s literally a test that selects *against* being a good future member of a society.

There's a lifetime exemption of 15 Million (30 million for couples) on a gift tax. You just have to report everything higher than 19k every year, you don't actually pay a gift tax until you exceed the lifetime exemption amount. No one pays gift tax. I think it exists to prevent money laundering.

@timotheeology I think he knows the prayer and could have recited it, but didn't because he didn't want to talk about the devil. Modern priests seem to avoid any talk of the demonic. Even at traditional parishes that recite the St. Michael prayer after mass, I don't see hardly any mention.

in this case, the value of an American education was destroyed in ~40 years.

if there’s no marketplace for customers (parents of students) to demand value (quality of education for price paid) by simply going to another service provider (school or educator), it is inevitable that costs will go up and quality will go down.

this is true of any service provided by government, which effectively grants itself a monopoly, deleting the opportunity for other service providers to compete in offering better value to customers/citizens…
