Yesterday, we took a business that was spending £100k+ in recruitment fees annually and designed a more productive solution focused around candidate attraction and market visibility for THEIR business. £60k for the year. Productivity is based around solutions.
Two things that are going to annoy construction firms in the coming years are bound to be big data and big recruitment fees.... https://t.co/vX4hrLz73b
Lauren Holland from Murphy Surveys delivered an honest lecture at Cambridge, highlighting the skill shortage and the impact that lack of innovation can have on candidate attraction.
I always think about this in #construction - the data demands are increasingly exponentially and I’m always surprised by the sizes of firms that aren’t really coping with today’s data, let alone tomorrow’s!
That’s why it’s so easy for employees to zig zag for £2k increments. Employee engagement is low & usually time investment is a lot more sustainable than financial investment.
Finding people with any skill set in construction isn’t hard. Companies get stuck with seperating themselves from the competition so they struggle to attract them or keep them.

We thought a Twitter was powerful for shouting out companies for bad service... watch how LinkedIn plays out when you can see the Directors names 4 clicks away from a detrimental post.
I recently posted on LinkedIn asking how much an engineer should be paid with two years experience and no kit. My suggestion was £220 and not the £275 someone asked for. LinkedIn did NOT like this and someone even said I was a toilet u-bend...
I think if someone is paying £275 per day and then providing the total station and the laptop and the cad, they expect someone who is undoubtedly competent. It’s my opinion that experience is accumulated over more than two years & 1.5 projects.
