Imagine being given somewhere around 80 years on a planet floating through an incomprehensibly enormous universe, surrounded by billions of people you will never meet, mysteries you will never solve, places you will never see, and more knowledge than you could absorb in a thousand lifetimes...

and spending the whole damn thing worrying about money, arguing with strangers, impressing people you don't even like, and doing something you hate five days a week because somebody convinced you that was life.

I don't know, man.

I think we may have gotten a few things terribly wrong.

Demis Hassabis and John Jumper, the 2024 Nobel Prize laureates in chemistry, have developed an AI model to solve a 50-year-old problem: predicting proteins’ complex structures.

In 2020, Hassabis and Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they have been able to predict the structure of virtually all the 200 million proteins that researchers have identified. Since their breakthrough, AlphaFold2 has been used by more than two million people from 190 countries. Among a myriad of scientific applications, researchers can now better understand antibiotic resistance and create images of enzymes that can decompose plastic.

Anybody feeling badly about the brutal mocking of this chick in memes:

She is a 36 YEAR OLD woman who has a PhD in gender studies and breaking/dance culture. She KNOWS there is talent greater than her. She preaches intersectionality and then takes a spot from a more deserving, disenfranchised kid.

They couldn’t afford to travel to the “Olympic qualifying.”

Instead of using her position as an educated, privileged, ADULT, white woman to crowdfund to get them there or even send in their videos, she decided that spot was hers.

She’s an insufferable, narcissistic bitch, and deserves every ounce of ridicule, and all of our disdain.
