Key changes - expect to see a LOT more SGLT2is!!

Focus on CV RISK - SGLT2is suggested as a 'dual first line' (with MFN, and essentially off license) if established CV disease/❤ failure OR ⬆️ CV risk

Also - add on to ACE/ARB if nephropathy (ACR >30, consider if 3-30)

Patients should be advised to hold their biotin for just a day or two before the test - it wears off quickly!
In acute situation do liaise with your local biochemistry lab for advice on whether biotin interference could be present

DID YOU KNOW that⭐️BIOTIN⭐️supplements can spuriously affect blood tests?
Biotin is a B vitamin found at low dose in many multivitamins, but in higher doses in hair & skin supplements, and more recently as a treatment for conditions such as multiple sclerosis (up to 10,000x RDA!)

The typical picture is of GRAVES' DISEASE - low TSH, high T4, and even a positive TSH-receptor antibody (TRAb). BUT the patient is asymptomatic! Their thyroid function will actually be normal - this is purely artefact.
Other tests can be affected e.g. troponin, other hormones
