๐ฐ๐ท Today, millions of South Koreans took to the streets, demanding the impeachment of centrist President Lee Jae-myung and positioning themselves against the Chinese Communist Party and communism. Today is also Korea's National Foundation Day. ๐ฅ
The most important implication here may be that privacy and verifiability eventually stop being โextra features.โ
Today, cryptographic guarantees often come with heavy computational costs.
But if SNARKs, FHE and related techniques move toward single-digit overhead, the architecture of software changes.
Applications may no longer have to choose between:
fast and private, or scalable and verifiable.
They may increasingly get both.
That would be a major shift.
Cryptography would stop sitting at the edge of computing and start becoming part of the default execution layer.
The long-term winner may not be the protocol with the best crypto primitives.
It may be the system that makes strong cryptographic guarantees cheap enough that users stop noticing they are there.
