Just a ranty thread on why we need a leader with a vision for the UK.
We face:
1️⃣a taxation crises
2️⃣a housing crises
3️⃣a childcare cost crises
4️⃣a wage growth crises
We cannot plod along, being taxed in poverty like this.
#CostOfLivingCrisis#energycrisis#FridayMotivation
2 million extra higher rate tax payers since 2019.
The UK is literally being taxed into poverty during a #CostOfLivingCrisis.
I thought people voted for low tax Tory’s, not Jeremy Corbyn in disguise.
1) Enact the most anti-free-market policy in history: bailing out the banks
2) Thus create a decade of slow growth
3) Add to that the most illiberal social policy in history: lockdowns
4) Thus make the growth worse
5) Conclude that economic & political liberalism have failed
Like logic would suggest focusing on the £330 billion we spend on welfare is more important than No.10 North
The proposed (with no mandate) National Care Service at £16bn is more important
Our costly energy & net zero are more important.
Stop being distracted by petty BS
Of all the issues the UK faces, focusing on ‘No10 North’ seems odd
Total spending will be a few million, a literal rounding error for a Govt that spends £1,300 billion a year or over £3 billion a day.
No wonder things don’t improve with this kind of focus….
Scotland raised its top income tax rate to 48% to make the rich pay more.
New HMRC data suggests the result may have been the opposite: Scotland collected about £22m less.
We can't be sure, but Scotland may have fallen over the Laffer curve.
🧵:
The UK has become a broken, bloated, excessively regulated, welfare dependent society
We don’t need more of the past 30 yrs, we need the opposite
-Lower taxes
-Fewer regulations
-Lower tax rate (which will raise more tax revenue anyway)
-Less welfare

@BBCPolitics It’s not hard, cut spending on welfare which is over £330 billion a year. Problem solved. It’s a short term safety net not a lifestyle choice.
Why would a “National Care Service” work when the National Health Service, with a 7.28 million long waiting list, clearly doesn’t?
Doing something over & over and expecting a different outcome is stupid. And costly, as our high taxes show…

Inheritance Tax should be 100% above a million pounds and it should apply to Trusts, all UK citizens and everything owned in the UK.
Earn your money if you want to be multimillionaire/billionaire and then when you die.
Pay your tax.
This is what happens when a Govt loses control of its borders.
Even more inexcusable is that the Govt then allows these people to roam freely instead of being held in secure facilities on an army base to be processed.
Talk about crazy.
🚨NEW: Iran has been caught smuggling agents into UK as Channel migrants
Officials in Tehran have also claimed that human trafficking routes between the Middle East and the Channel are “owned” by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps
@RupertLowe10 You need to select the core issues and focus solely on them. Having an opinion on anything & everything detracts from what you’re trying to achieve. The average person is not interested in politics so a simple message constantly repeated is the best way to go.
Whilst I agree that pubs should have the choice, if Rupert wants Restore to be taken seriously he needs to focus on the main priorities. That’s it.
This endless commentary on any random issue detracts from what he is trying to achieve
This scatter gun approach simply won’t work
A Restore Britain Government will allow pub landlords and other venue owners to install a smoking room.
If adults want to smoke inside a contained room, and the landlord is happy to provide that, then it's none of our business.
Crack on.
Families are struggling with their energy bills and this VAT cut to electricity will give some breathing space this winter.
My focus now is working to bring bills down for good.
There are 28 ministers in the new Cabinet. This is the sum total of their private sector experience:
- Louise Haigh: Three years in a middle management role at Aviva. Ended in a fraud conviction.
- Andy Burnham: Three years in a small publishing business after university.
That’s it… A team with no business, finance or management experience is running a £3 trillion economy. I’ll explain just how screwed we are on @PatrickChristys Tonight. 9pm @GBNEWS.
