I do not support a borderless Africa because borders are not some European idea that suddenly appeared yesterday. Even long before colonial states, African kingdoms, tribes and communities had land, authority and territorial limits. People knew where one group’s power ended and another began.
So no, open borders are not “African unity.” Unity is cooperation, trade and respect between states. Borderless movement in a continent with weak institutions, huge economic gaps, crime, corruption and high unemployment is reckless, not progressive. It’s a ridiculous idea and promoted for different agendas.
The most stressful aspect of litigation is in the preparation of the court processes. Lawyer anxiety happens because of the high stake nature of legal work. After all, a single missed detail could mean a client is wrongfully convicted or losing the case in its entirety.
High levels of stress can strike at many different points throughout a Litigation Attorney's career; when studying for the best approach to deploy to win a case, juggling contradictory and overwhelming case volumes and laws, or facing tight deadlines with incomplete discovery.
The courtroom itself is unique because it amplifies these pressures. You're performing under scrutiny, thinking on your feet, and defending your client's interests in real time. This is especially true when you're managing many cases simultaneously. The volume alone is enough to cause severe mental distress.
You are making preparation to presume a question the Judge could ask, assuming/ predicting a different strategy that might be adopted by the opposing counsel and finding all means to present the client's case in the best manner.
This stress is very common in such a demanding job like litigation, and it affects all Litigation lawyers at every stage of their career; from first-year/junior associates to even the most experienced and seasoned partners. The pressure to get a good outcome for your clients while managing ever-growing caseloads creates a perfect storm for stress and worry.
Meanwhile, high levels of anxiety do not mean you're not cut out for this work. It means you care deeply about your clients and the results they crave for whilst briefing you.
As a Litigation Attorney, do your work diligently but do take time to rest to fight the anxiety, stress and depression that accompanies the mental workload. The lifespan of work is longer than that of a Lawyer's one. Clients don't love us; they are only there because we are alive, healthy and useful.

After 8½ years of advocacy & litigation I recovered the 843 acres (341.2 HA) piece of government land in Busia County from fraudsters who had stolen it and I restored it to the public. ... {Nasewa Land, a thread}
It always amazes me how muslims always end up right.
First it was how they clean up in the toilet with water, everyone is trying to implement it now.
Next is fasting religiously every year, now everyone preaches intermittent fasting and its benefits.
Next is how they don't eat pork, they call it unclean. And by fact it can affect the brain because of tapeworms.
When we were kids everything they used to do was strange and different from us, now because of education and the Internet we seem to be slowly implementing their way of life.
One thing about your appearance is that, when you dress dirty because you’re broke, people might help you out of pity, but nobody is giving a million or more to a person that appears that way. At most, they’d give you what will sort 2-3 meals.
But when you’re dressed neatly, you look approachable, you smell good, people will feel comfortable enough to come closer to you, people can trust you with their money, put you on big projects worth millions that can change your life. People feel you deserve more than that 3 meal money from the way you’re dressed, and you just see yourself attract some big opportunities.
Remember, the way you’re dressed is how you’ll be addressed. You really don’t need to look like your problems.
The Bar has spoken, and the message is clear: A new chapter begins for the Law Society of Kenya - grounded in discipline, legitimacy and the will of the membership.
The will of the membership is supreme.
I am humbled to lead this great Society and look forward to working with the incoming Council to protect our members and defend the Rule of Law.
Cleanshelf Supermarket has been ordered to pay Kshs 500,000 for humiliating a customer it suspected of shoplifting. The customer was physically searched in a public area, in full view of other shoppers, contrary to Cleanshelf’s own Loss Control Policy which requires private searches. The High Court found that the supermarket violated her rights to dignity, privacy, and consumer protection. Respect customers, even when suspicion arises
