what if i told you @Baidu_Inc China's facebook - has an official mascot hidden away on their brand guide website?

so i saw a bunch of mascot coins going insane on bnb recently, and figured i’d look into some real mascots for inspiration.

i remembered how Baidu — basically the Chinese Facebook with over a billion users — has that dog paw logo. i wanted to find the dog it was based on.

turns out it wasn’t a dog at all. in 2004, when Google’s Sergey Brin visited Baidu, he asked if the logo was a dog’s paw.

Robin Li (Baidu’s founder) corrected him:

“No, it’s a bear’s paw.”

so then i had to find out which bear it was based on.

that’s when i came across 百度熊 (Baidu Bear) — the official bear mascot hidden inside Baidu’s own brand system:

what an amazing first day, the prototype should be finished printing by tomorrow morning, will update you guys then, the agenda for tomorrow:

- finalize the 10 editions of fredz that will be in series 1
- work on and finalize box art
- take snapshot of holders some time tomorrow morning to see who stayed thru the night ;)
- discuss and strategize burn mechanic for redeeming $fredz for an actual blind box

I dont want to actually sell the blind boxes until I have them in hand, this will require rigorous planning and thorough execution with very little room for error, luckily we have this amazing community to share ideas with.
