Serious question, when exactly did Mr. Spaceships go full right-wing grifter? Seems like every time I see him on my feed he’s retweeting some unbelievably problematic conspiracy theory.
@IwriteOK I think about the major developments in firearms during wwii, and how Germany put out less than a million each of the stg 44 and mp 40, which really weren’t good guns anyway
Meanwhile nearly every American soldier was equipped with undisputedly the best gun in the whole war
huge violation of privacy (and ofc the practical issues with determining who is or is not trans) notwithstanding, what is wrong with just letting people choose who they want to date? Can’t we just let folks make their own choices about who they are and who they love?
“Generates more heat than light” is an incredibly eloquent burn, and I cannot believe it comes from a Wikipedia editor argument about how to spell yogurt
As years wore on, people increasingly fought against the fight itself. They argued that switching Yoghurt --> Yogurt would only prolong the already rotten and curdling dispute. This sect just wanted everyone to be done with yog(h)urt. You could call them lactose intolerant
@IwriteOK like. The distance one would have to cross between the nearest inhabited part of Russia and the nearest inhabited part of Canada (ignore the casual invasion of a completely unrelated country for a sec) is just so big. Is there even any infrastructure there for an army to use??
@CBHeresy The argument here, of course, is that “good” immigrants are unobtrusive and do not advocate for social good. The same argument is also used on pretty much every other marginalized group, and it’s just as bullshit here as anywhere else.
@IwriteOK Neutrality is a made-up value that has absolutely no worth, ESPECIALLY when people are suffering and dying constantly. It’s okay to take a stand against the evil you see.
IMO a journalist’s job is to make accurate, honest reporting—not twisting facts, but showing the world as is
@LordAslanThe2nd because—and this is very important—there is no basis on which to argue that trans people, antifa, or any of the other target groups are actually p3d0s. The only reason to make this argument is to set the stage for eventual calls to violence.
@LordAslanThe2nd The black hoodie/red bandanna combo is a pretty clear reference to antifa (a movement that has never to my knowledge argued in favor of csam) so it’s another example of the right wing tactic “claim the opposition is so evil we can argue they should be exterminated”
@LordAslanThe2nd Particularly a fan of the helicopter emoji, which is—unless I’m mistaken—a reference to Argentine dictator Jorge Rafael Videla’s practice of throwing political dissidents out of helicopters. Very normal, great example of human rights being upheld
@LordAslanThe2nd Also, usually there’s a local pilot who comes out to the ship to guide it into harbor, right? So it wouldn’t have been one of the non-American crew who fucked up?
Not sure what I expected clicking on the replies to a Babylon bee post, but an army of blue-checked neo-nazis was not my first guess (samples are the tame shit)
@ahjapb@culturaltutor Rather famously, Lucas had Mark Hamill literally go out into a very real blizzard outside of the hotel they were all staying at in order to film the shots of Luke stumbling around in the snow after escaping the wampa cave. The camera crew stayed inside.
