If he wants the Grimoire, what else can he actually give Stolas? Yes, it’s inherently unfair, but if he wants the deal he understands, and consents, to it being unfair.

Nor does he actually need the money, he also isn’t doing it for any reason other than him wanting to. Taking the Grimoire alone is a death sentence, Stolas was reasonable.
