Carney’s own COO and senior Canada–U.S. adviser is publicly reported as an American citizen and under Canada’s rules, Top Secret clearance can only be granted to Canadian citizens.
What security clearance does the person helping RUN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE actually have?
Pierre Poilievre..As Leader of the Opposition, he is not automatically required by law to obtain Top Secret clearance simply because he holds that office.
Maia Johnson…Because she works inside the PMO, government rules REQUIRE ministerial-office staff to have at least Secret clearance before appointment. That’s an actual employment/security requirement.

Lutnick also says " You should only trade with your closest allies and nations you trust." I am a grandmother. I wanted my grandchildren to inherit the Canada I thought I grew up in — work hard, keep your nose clean, and you could build a middle-class life. That was not wealth. It was a decent house, a doctor who would see you, and kids who could leave home.
I do not believe that country exists anymore.
In eleven or twelve years under Liberal government it was taken apart. They brought in people at a scale this country was never built to absorb, through temporary workers, students, and processes that were not the old immigration rules our parents understood. Then they did not even keep a proper count of who stayed and who left. Ottawa still cannot tell Canadians, with a straight face, how many people are actually here. That alone should scare every grandmother in this country.
Walk into a mall or a clinic in any big city and it does not feel like the Canada I raised my children in. It feels like a waiting room for the United Nations. My husband waited months for a cancer diagnosis and nine months to get into a clinic. My grandchildren send a hundred résumés for a part-time job while the rules keep getting rewritten so smaller shops can bring in more temporary foreign workers.
I was once willing to give everything for what I believed this country stood for. Today I would give everything to protect my family from what it has become.
Sixth-generation Albertans should not have to fight this hard for a life their grandparents took for granted.
