4/ Most troops + officers have no desire to be there. Most are confused, no direction. We’re told Ukraine would fall within 48 hours, minimal casualties. Told Ukraine had been fighting separatists for “a decade” and was not prepared for war. All obviously false.

We also need to learn how to reach out to these people, and how to balance the need for reform with the need for perceived stability. Progress is good, but we need to keep the end goal in mind while planning the small steps to get there.

Also think this may explain the shift b/t 2020 and 2021. Trump was just too far right for these same people, but @GlennYoungkin seems like a ‘safe’ bet when you truly believe @TheDemocrats are too ‘radical’ or influenced by ‘radical’ ideology.

The #culturewar issues only work when voters don’t have a better reason to vote for @TheDemocrats. Give them a reason to #voteblue and you remove most of the teeth from the “culture war.” Then have a quick, easy answer why we’re aren’t pushing #CRC or whatever BS the GOP pushes.

But we need to recognize that the #CultureWar tactics are only effective if @TheDemocrats don’t give voters a reason to ignore it. You do that by running on POPULAR issues like #raisingtheminimum wage, #paidleave and #taxingtherich. Give promises, and then actually fulfill them.

@GlennYoungkin gave voters a reason to vote for him. @TerryMcAuliffe gave them a lot of National talk and ‘Trump bad’ takes. When it comes down to it, that is what needs to be taken from the #VirginiaElection2021

When I saw @TerryMcAuliffe’s campaign, it was a lot about Donald Trump, a lot about @GlennYoungkin, and not enough about his excellent record as VA’s Governor. Regular Americans in #Virginia don’t look at it as Trump vs Biden, they view it as @TerryMcAuliffe vs @GlennYoungkin
