I've read about some poor financial decisions made in Chicago, but didn't know Jacksonville was in the same conversation. I wonder if a relatively smaller economy coupled with a relatively larger land area for Jax plays a factor, potentially alongside poor financial decisions.
Chicago Police and Fire pension systems are the worst funded programs in the nation. Yesterday, Gov Pritzker signed a bill further increasing benefits, adding an additional $11 billion of unfunded liabilities. Instead of trying to address the problem, Illinois has just given up.
