1 Kings 4, Psalms 72; 127
Can someone help me calculate the number of pasture and stall cattle that fed his women, children and grand children till he died? That food serving was just for a day oo! #BURP365
we have are acts of God's grace, not reasons to become proud. Now wisdom and faith don't make us immune to difficult seasons. A person can be deeply devoted to God and still wrestle with sorrow, disappointment or unanswered questions. #BURP365
So Heman the Ezrahite, who wrote Psalm 88 was mentioned again in 1 Kings 4. He was known to be wise but Solomon's wisdom was said to have surpassed even his. That made me appreciate just how extraordinary God's gift to Solomon was and reminded me that whatever gifts or abilities
people experienced peace, enjoyed the work of their hands and even learnt from him. It made me think about the gifts God has given each of us. They're not just for our own success or recognition and they're meant to bless the people around us. #BURP365
I noticed that the prosperity of Solomon wasn’t limited to just the incredible wealth he had but the peace that came with it. Solomon was just chilling over here! 😅 He wasn't just about giving wise answers, it actually had real impact on people. Because he led with wisdom, the
Isn’t it ironic that Solomon writes about rescuing the oppressed in Ps 72:12 but he had people who were confined into forced labor during his reign? #BURP365
Solomon may have been the Bible’s first environmental enthusiast. 😁 Every citizen had their own vine and fig tree plus he was remarkably knowledgeable about nature. 🥹 If I could time travel into any moment in Scripture to live out the rest of my days, I’d definitely pick this
awake in vain” frames it beautifully. Even in a well-ordered kingdom with structure and security, ultimate safety still isn’t self-sustained. 😄🔥 #BURP365
Psalm 127 hits different when you read it in light of Solomon’s reign. Verse 1 makes so much sense considering Israel’s season of peace and stability, where external conflict was minimal and the kingdom was flourishing. “Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays
Don’t confuse productivity with fruitfulness. You can work hard, wake early, sleep late, build systems, protect cities, chase success, and still miss the mark. Human effort, planning, building, security, and family life can become empty when God is not the foundation. #BURP365
It’s been tested time and time again, generations after generations and one thing is for sure: without GOD, life is just existence but with Him, you live to the fullest, the life you are called to. Involving Him is not a one time thing but consistent lifelong intimacy. #BURP365
Solomon was in direct violation of commandments the Lord spoke through Moses in Deut 17:16-17. Man was very extravagant, no wonder he burdened them with so much taxes. #BURP365
God is great but when you totally depend on these blessings, it slowly takes you away from God. He really fumbled. Pride had also began to set in. I think because he didn’t work so hard for what he had, he was just doing anyhow 🤣 #BURP365
In Deuteronomy 17:16–17, God gave kings three clear instructions but What did we see with Solomon? He went and disobeyed all God commanded the people NOT to do. The wealth he had wasn’t even the problem. The problem was what this massive wealth represented. Having blessings from
is to stray. If we’re not careful, we can know God's word, be theologically correct and yet be far from God in terms of our relationship with Him. #BURP365
From 2 Chronicles 8:11, we see clearly how Solomon moved his wife (Pharoah's daughter) away from the city of David to her own palace because she wasn't holy and the Ark of the Lord was there. So he was knowledgeable enough to know this, yet that didn't deter you from marrying her
in the first place 😏 outrightly violating God's command. This says so much about his intimacy and relationship with God. He had some reverence for God which was why he didn’t want her around the temple but didn't have a strong enough relationship. That just shows me how easy it
