Exciting PhD opportunity with me and @IR_PAAsh (and others at @Leicesterchem and @LeicStructBio) looking at ultrafast dynamics of heme proteins with coherent Raman spectroscopy! Applications close 20th Jan.

Our latest in @J_ASMS, with colleagues from @OxfordChemistry, @OxfordPhysics, and @BrookhavenLab. Here we use optical triggering and k-means sorting to split continuous Timepix3 data into individual mass spectra, without requiring a (costly) external TDC.

Excited to have received a physical copy of @jdpicks038 ultrafast spectroscopy book from @IOPPublishing.
This book is an accessible and student-focused introduction to this topic that my group has found very useful (it's also a treat to write a foreword for a former postdoc).
John's efforts to distinguish sequential and concerted ion fragmentation dynamics were fundamental to how we measure these reactions today.
Here we apply the native frames method to place ions in their own reference frames, allowing such reactions to be visually identified. 2/2
Pleased to see that our work with colleagues from @OxfordChemistry, @SLAClab, and @pulse_institute has now been published online by @PCCP for John Eland's Festschrift.
Congratulations to Joe McManus and Tiffany Walmsley for leading the analysis. 1/2

Remarkable that this is only weakly correlated with both full-time graduate enrollment and average research income per faculty member. It demonstrates a healthy degree of parity between Canadian universities.
Top Ten Canadian Universities for Proportion of Papers Attaining top-10% Field-adjusted Citations, 2017-20 (minimum 250 papers in top 10%). Wouldn't have guessed Memorial in the top-10; Montreal's absence is interesting too.
Happy to see that @louis_minion has been awarded the 2021 Physical & Theoretical Part II runner-up prize @OxfordChemistry. Louis spent his MChem Part II year in my group, and his work was recently featured as a 2022 hot article by @PCCP. Great work Louis!

Hi Twitter, Iβm a physical chemist who leads a research team at Oxford Chemistry, where we use ultrashort laser pulses to study how molecules respond to light. I created this account to share my thoughts on research in #PhysChem and #AMOPhysics, as well as other things I like.
