From the words of Scott Moe, "The time for patience is over." We are done trying to fix this country. After 155 years of putting up with all the crapola, the Rest of Canada is out of time. Its too late. Even if the federal government on behalf of the Rest of Canada suddenly changed their song and dance and offered us all the things we've wanted, a growing number of people would just roll their eyes and refuse to be swayed because promises made by the federal government will never be trusted. And the fact is, the Liberals ARE NOT changing their song and dance. Conservative MPs like Damien Kurek may speak about all the ways Canada can be fixed and say that his party can be the one to do the fixing, but how many people here actually think they can? The deck is stacked--most of the Senate, Supreme Court, and Civil Service are all Liberal-appointed--plus for the Conservatives to pull off a majority, suddenly they'd have a bigger caucus which then contains a lot more wishy-washy, Eastern, Liberal-in-Conservative clothing, fake conservative MPs in the mould of utter idiots like Doug Ford, who they have to keep happy or risk more floorcrossing. And let's be realistic: a majority government is a stretch. Even a minority government is a stretch and even if they get a minority, who would they even get into bed with to get legislation passed? So long as the NDP has been pulverized into a non-factor, there will be no urban votesplits on the left to allow the Conservatives the needed urban seats to form government. The future is bleak. You may support the Conservatives wholeheartedly, but at the end of the day, we'll probably continue to have Liberal governments for years to come unless the Conservatives embrace a more charismatic progressive than Erin O'Toole, and abandon all the policies we in the West embrace so as to appeal to the Eastern urban voting base.

The idea of independence may seem crazy and impossible, with obstacles too enormous to overcome, with too many steps to complete, but the West needs to give it their all to exit the Canadian confederation. The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step. And nothing worth doing is ever easy. Alternatively, we can choose to sit around for another 20 years, hoping things get better but watching them get worse, and they will get worse. So what's it going to be?
