160 km trip while towing a cabin across the arctic tundra. Beautiful trip, and it went off without a problem thanks to the amazing skills and multi-generational knowledge in the crew. Great job boys!
Fortunate to live and teach in such a magical place. Ulu has incredible people, culture and traditions. Online learning, home packages and unstable internet - HKE has incredible teachers. We miss learning from our kiddos. #Jan17@bushcraft_tech
@TeachAlli and I got to spend time with a local woman, learning to work with locally harvested sealskin. She was using her grandmother's Ulu, worn down from decades of sharpening and making her family clothing. Amazing. Ulukhaktok: "the place where Ulu material is collected"
Three months teaching awesome students in Ulu. Hot chocolate on top of the world. -45 recess in the dark. Full 24 hour darkness. What an Arctic ride. @bushcraft_tech
Amazing afternoon taking the students sliding in the dark, under the stars, at -39°c. At one point one of the kids pointed up - we were under the Aqhalingian (Northern Lights). I thought it was amazing, they thought it was just a regular Wednesday afternoon. @TeachAlli
Final prep today. Gear check, loaded canoes, practiced hanging food. The DeadPine Program is off on our first overnight trip tomorrow! Stay tuned. @Stephymarie33@DeadPine57@SD57PG
It's been two wonderful weeks with our students in Ulu! The culture and community are amazing. It snowed! The yearly barge came in and this was our view last night. @bushcraft_tech
BC Trappers mag posted a story about our program @dptstrojans written by @MarrenKatie & put RW on the cover. She is roasting a squirrel we trapped.
BC Trappers Association sent me 10 copies of the magazine so each student in the mag will get one. @Stephymarie33@pamelaspooner77
Well, it's been a week since we moved to Ulu! The landscape and town are beautiful. The community is so welcoming and friendly. We are setting up our classrooms, and exploring! We touched the Arctic Ocean. The kids are excited for school. We are too!! @bushcraft_tech
The river is becoming a regular destination for our science class lessons. The picture says it all. KKS Tactical and @SD57Indigenous hooked us up with the fishing gear.
HAWK program had the most incredible experience thanks to the PG Rod and Gun Club, and Cassy and Dave from KKS Tactical who volunteered their entire day, firearms, ammunition and expertise. So proud, but not surprised, of the level of maturity and respect the students showed.
