The Heritage American debate isn’t just about severing your connection to the American past.
The more sinister idea is that what you do today carries no inheritance forward.
Serve your country. Build something. Sacrifice. Endure. Die for it.
Then be told your descendants have no special claim to your story, no right to take pride in your sacrifice, no deeper connection because of what you gave.
Once you convince a people that inheritance, lineage, and posterity mean nothing, you’ve weakened one of the oldest reasons men sacrifice for a future they’ll never live to see.
That is fertile ground for any system that wants loyalty transferred from family and inheritance to the state.
There is nothing remotely racist or bigoted about wanting the state universities where you live and which you subsidize to be educating for advancement your children and not foreigners. It’s the university of your state, not a branch of the planetary university. Nor should American kids be competing with foreigners for spots in those schools. It doesn’t matter if the foreign kid is smarter, he can be “smarter” where he lives and that’s great. Maybe he can turn his country into a super power one day. We are not a mere globalist economic zone. We are a country, a culture, and a people. And we should behave as such for the benefits thereof.
Ben is playing a word game: “Texas resident” does not mean “U.S. citizen.”
Pointing out that 90% of freshmen must be Texas residents tells us absolutely nothing about how many are citizens.
My argument is simple: taxpayer-funded opportunities for Texans should distinguish Americans from non-citizens and Ben should stop being deceptive.
Bishop Michael Burbidge is urging Catholics to vote NO this fall on two dangerous Virginia ballot initiatives.
"All of us in the Commonwealth of Virginia will soon face very serious legal threats to the sacredness of human life and the sanctity of marriage."
🚨A RARE MOVE by a Virginia Bishop Ahead of Election Day
"Catholic Bishop Michael Burbidge says he has never before asked every priest in his diocese to do what he requested this weekend: read a letter at Mass urging Catholics to oppose two Virginia constitutional amendments on abortion and marriage."
"Across 70 parishes serving more than 430,000 Catholics in Northern Virginia, worshippers heard Burbidge warn against what he called 'two dangerous ballot initiatives'—proposed constitutional amendments that Virginians will decide Nov. 3. Early voting begins Friday."
"The effort follows a joint statement Burbidge issued with Richmond Bishop Barry Knestout in August. In his latest letter, Burbidge urged parishioners to pledge to vote at https://t.co/kJzKhv4RZd, cast ballots early beginning Friday, and encourage their family, friends, and colleagues to oppose the amendments." ...

This is my thoughts on the UT Austin stuff.
Public universities are not a global meritocracies they are there to teach the people of the state who pay for them with taxes.
Asians from overseas regularly cheat to get admitted and the schools overlook it because they charge more for international students. This is a fraud on the tax payers and in state students.
I don't care to hear from people who are more upset about racism than this massive open fraud at our public schools.
@seanmdav My husband & and I are both UT grads. Our daughter could not get in with super high SAT, top of her class, 4.25 GPA, multiple varsity sports because she is a military kid living in VA. My family fought at the Battle of San Jacinto but my kid can't go to UT
Catholic priest Father Dan Reehil delivered a blistering rebuke of the women publicly rallying behind Lindsay Clancy.
Then came his blunt advice for unmarried men: “If you’re dating a woman right now who is a supporter of this woman who killed her children, cut bait and run for your life. Because one day you’ll be having kids with her, and she thinks this is okay. I’m serious. That’s a big impediment for me in a marriage.”
The kids who lost a year or more of school didn't get a vote on lockdowns. They're the ones paying the price today, in learning loss and isolation, for decisions made by bureaucrats – like Anthony Fauci – who never once had to answer for them.
When will we acknowledge that not every teacher position is equal in scope and workload, and we should absolutely be paying the science and math teachers more than the PE and Art teachers?
