The World Cup has transformed the United States into the world’s most overwhelming Discovery Channel special.
And the visitors are not coping.
In the absolute best way possible.
Here’s what they’re uncovering:
Public restrooms you can actually use without paying.
Water that shows up at the table for free.
Unlimited refills on coffee, soda, and sweet tea.
Chips and salsa arriving before you even ask.
Warm bread served with dinner, no extra charge.
Ice in every drink like it’s a basic human right.
Air conditioning that’s standard everywhere—not a climate crime.
Parking right next to the building you’re visiting.
Drive-thrus that deliver food straight to your car.
Ranch dressing available by the jug.
Tex-Mex that defies description and demands to be experienced.
Dentists who actually fix things.
And Buc-ee’s… which simply breaks language.
Then they discovered American grocery stores.
Five colossal ones within a single mile, each the size of an airplane hangar.
A single refrigerated aisle offering every cut of beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry known to humanity—at 10 a.m. on a random Tuesday.
The Germans stood motionless in the meat section for nearly an hour.
Silent.
Rebooting.
Suddenly, the lack of passenger trains makes perfect sense.
Why bother with trains when the roads are wide enough for the vehicles we actually drive, parking lots stretch like small nations, and decent airports dot every city worth going to?
The Germans are now smuggling ranch dressing home by the bottle.
The Dutch tasted queso and temporarily forgot how to form sentences.
The Japanese are documenting H-E-B like it’s the Sistine Chapel.
The Czechs have been spotted openly weeping with joy in West, Texas.
Welcome to America. 🇺🇸
The greatest country on Earth.
I am a senior coordinating producer for the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. I have worked eleven of these. I was backstage at the Washington Hilton when the shots were fired.
The first thing I heard was not the gunfire. It was glass.
A champagne flute hit the floor of the International Ballroom at approximately 9:47 PM. Then a second. Then the sound that I have since been told was a 12-gauge shotgun, which from inside the ballroom sounded like a heavy door slamming in a parking garage. Then the Secret Service moved. They moved the President, the Vice President, the First Lady through the east corridor in under ninety seconds, which is protocol, which is practiced, which is the one part of the evening that worked exactly as it was designed.
Everything else was improvised.
I know this because I ordered the wine. 94 tables. Two bottles per table. 188 bottles of a Willamette Valley pinot noir that the Association selected in February after a tasting committee spent three meetings debating between Oregon and Burgundy. Oregon won. The budget was $14,200. I signed the invoice. I can tell you the vintage. I can tell you the distributor. I can tell you the per-bottle cost because I negotiated it down from $89 to $76.
What I cannot tell you is how 147 of those bottles left the building during an active shooter evacuation.
I can tell you what I saw. A correspondent from a network I will not name picked up two bottles on her way to the east exit. Full bottles. One in each hand. She was wearing heels and she did not spill. A man in a tuxedo tucked one inside his jacket the way you'd shoplift a paperback at an airport bookstore. A woman picked up a bottle, looked at the label, put it back, and took a different one.
She checked the vintage. During an evacuation. That's editorial judgment under pressure.
The theme of the dinner was "A Free Press for a Free People." The banners were still hanging when the evacuation began. I know because I hung them. Twenty-three banners, navy blue, gold serif lettering, $11,400 for the set. They were still hanging when 2,600 guests were directed to the exits by Secret Service agents, one of whom had just taken a shotgun round in his ballistic vest and walked to the ambulance on his own feet.
The agent's vest costs approximately $800. The wine that left the building was worth $11,172 at Association cost. At restaurant markup, roughly $29,000. The guests saved more in wine than the vest that saved the agent.
That's priority.
The video went viral by 10:15 PM. Not the video of the evacuation. Not the Secret Service response. The wine. Three guests in formalwear grabbing bottles off white tablecloths while being told to move toward the exits, while a man with a shotgun stood in the same motor entrance where John Hinckley shot Ronald Reagan 45 years ago.
A woman near the service entrance was crying. She said "I just wanna go home." She was not holding wine. She was holding her phone. She was the only person I saw that night who looked afraid rather than inconvenienced.
That's the distinction. The rest of the ballroom did not look afraid. They looked interrupted. An active shooter at the WHCD is a logistical problem. The dinner was disrupted. The timeline was off. The after-party at the French Ambassador's residence would need to be rescheduled. These are contingency matters. Contingency matters have solutions. Fear is for people who attend events without security details.
I have produced eleven of these dinners. I have managed seating charts that require diplomatic-grade negotiations. I have handled comedians, cabinet secretaries, network anchors, and the editor of a major newspaper who once threatened to leave because his table was behind a column.
I have never, in eleven years, seen a guest leave a $76 bottle on the table during an evacuation. I have also never seen a guest check the label first. Both observations are consistent. The bottle is worth taking. The evacuation is worth surviving. The instinct is to do both simultaneously.
188 bottles placed. 41 recovered. 147 unaccounted for. One agent shot. Zero guests injured. Zero bottles broken.
A free press for a free people. The press is free. The wine was $76 a bottle. They took it anyway.
As a European, I apologize to Americans for all the idiocy coming from our side.
You save your pilots no matter the cost.
You send humans to the moon.
You fight authoritarianism head-on.
It's truly inspiring.
We're on the wrong side of the moral equation.
Trump didn’t beg for our soldier to be returned. He didn’t have his wife make hashtags. And he didn’t send pallets of cash in hopes of a deal.
He just sent in special forces to ice every warm body that got in the way of the rescue.
NEW: The niece and grand-niece of slain Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani were reportedly living 'lavish' lifestyles in Los Angeles before being arrested by ICE.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece, had allegedly celebrated the Iranian attacks on US soldiers.
"While living in the United States, she promoted Iranian regime propaganda, celebrated attacks against American soldiers and military facilities in the Middle East, praised the new Iranian Supreme Leader, denounced America as the ‘Great Satan,’ and voiced her unflinching support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terror organization," the State Department said.
Afshar, 47, was granted asylum in 2019 and received a green card from the Biden administration in 2021.
The grand-niece of Soleimani, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25, entered the US in 2015 on a student visa and later became a green card holder.
Her now-deleted Instagram showed her clubbing in Miami, spending time in Alaska, and partying in Las Vegas, according to the New York Post.
"The daughter lives in Hollywood. The boyfriend told me that he and Sarina were driving outside the house when they were cut up by ICE cars. He said the agents were demanding to know where the mother was," a neighbor said.
🇺🇸🇮🇷 Rescue operation for F-15 pilot cost the U.S up to $386 million in aircraft alone:

The butchers of Tehran have just suffered the greatest military humiliation their blood-soaked regime has ever known.
And I fucking love every exquisite second of it.
Two United States Air Force airmen, crew of an F-15E Strike Eagle brought down in your own skies amid the firestorm of precision strikes, were hunted like trophies by your so-called elite forces.
One extracted under fire within hours.
The other...a battle-hardened colonel...evaded your goons for nearly forty-eight hours in terrain you claim as sacred soil.
Then America did what America does:
we sent our special operators in deep, clashed with your Revolutionary Guard and militia rabble, left their corpses in the dirt, and pulled both pilots out alive.
Zero American losses.
Not one.
Just surgical lethality executed with the kind of professional mastery that makes your entire “Axis of Resistance” look like the paper tiger Prince Turki al-Faisal always said you were.
This isn’t mere embarrassment.
This is psychological evisceration on a historic scale. Your regime’s entire pathology...decades of revolutionary theater, martyrdom pornography, and “Death to America” chants...has always been a brittle projection of weakness masquerading as strength.
You excel at butchering your own women in the streets, hanging gays from cranes, and funding proxy cannon fodder to bleed the world from the shadows.
But when real warriors step onto your home turf?
When American special forces operate with impunity in the heart of your supposed fortress?
Your vaunted defenses crumble, your command nodes go dark, and your fighters bleed out without landing a single meaningful blow.
That is the fatal revelation:
your theocracy doesn’t fear the Great Satan because of ideology.
It fears us because we expose the hollowness at your core...the medieval hubris that history has punished without mercy, from the Persians of old who overreached against disciplined foes to every despot who mistook internal terror for external power.
Philosophically, it’s Nietzschean in its cruelty:
the slave morality of your mullahs, built on resentment and divine delusion, collapses the instant it confronts the master ethos of free men who fight for something greater than fear.
Militarily, it’s pure arithmetic...full-spectrum dominance rendered in blood and night-vision.
Our operators don’t chant slogans; they execute doctrine forged in the unforgiving crucibles of real wars, backed by air dominance that turns your mountains into kill boxes.
You spent years convincing yourselves that asymmetric harassment and human-wave delusions gave you leverage.
Wrong. Dead wrong.
We just wrote the obituary on that lie, deep inside your borders, and walked away laughing.
To the butchers in Tehran:
your regime is cracking from within, its people seething under the boot you’ve ground into their necks for too long. This humiliation doesn’t just sting...it accelerates the implosion. The world sees it. America sees it. And we fucking revel in it.
The finest fighting force in human history just reminded every tyrant why no one breaks our own. We do not abandon our people. We do not negotiate with butchers.
Greatest humiliation ever, for those degenerates in the bloody regime.
And it tastes like victory.
💀🗡️🪖🇺🇸🦅
I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.

We just won Missouri v. Biden.
As Missouri’s Attorney General, I sued the Biden regime for brazenly colluding with Big Tech to silence Missouri families — censoring the truth about COVID, the Hunter Biden laptop, the open border, and the 2020 election. They tried to turn Facebook, X, YouTube, and the rest into their private speech police, labeling dissent “misinformation” while they pushed their narrative on the American people.
Today, after years of unrelenting litigation, we deep state into a historic 10-year, court-enforceable Consent Decree. It directly binds the Surgeon General, the CDC, and CISA: no more threats of legal, regulatory, or economic punishment. No more coercion. No more unilateral direction or veto of platform decisions to remove, suppress, deplatform, or algorithmically bury protected speech.
Missouri struck first—and Missouri won big.
This is the first real, operational restraint on the federal censorship machine. It locks in the First Amendment principle we fought for: modern technology doesn’t erase your rights, and government labels don’t strip speech of protection. The deep state just got checked.
For every working Missouri family tired of being silenced by their own government: this victory is yours. The heartland fought back, and the heartland delivered.
