Who am I, you ask?
I can’t be described as anything other than a 33-year-old failed academic, failed political commentator and failed HGV driver, who parted with his life’s savings to complete a PhD thesis that nobody in his research pool actually cares about.
I now live with my parents on benefits because I’ve run out of money, and have more university degrees than women I’ve slept with, and am the identikit of the as-good-as-forsaken millennial generation: someone who has spent his life preparing for a world that doesn’t and will probably never exist.
Butchered Blues is nothing but an expression of sheer anguish at the shit hand I've been given. There. I've said it.
I'm delighted to announce that my new single, "Steed of Silence", will be released on all major platforms on Friday!
If you can't wait that long, however, you can listen to/purchase it on Bandcamp right now: https://t.co/pIzpgcrkxN
The commercial music industry certainly feels "dead" in the way proposed in the Dead Internet Theory, but that is not a reason to stop trying to change it.
The hack for an independent musician is loving the process of writing, recording and performing music irrespective of the commercial results. Pareto's Law applies more to music than it does any other industry: you may release 50 duds but you only need 1 song to hit the spot for those 49 others to then attain relevance of their own.
The problem as I see it is that so many new bands who look to Oasis for inspiration see "making it big" as the end goal and lose their enthusiasm when it doesn't work out as they imagined.
The charts may be full of nepo-baby shite now, but I fully believe the bubble will burst at some point: you can only keep brilliant music down for so long.

I am effectively the anti-Charli xcx.
If hers is music for the middle of the party, Butchered Blues is for the socially awkward smoker in the corner plotting his revenge on those making out in front of him.
