Today is October 11th, 2026. 6+ years later, our family is still asking the same questions....and still being denied the truth.
#JustonRoot was already on the ground, incapacitated and holding nothing in his hands, when officers fired 31 shots at close range.
Michael Proctor told our family that Juston had shot someone and refused to drop a weapon. That was not true.
We now know Proctor’s text messages dating back to 2013 were obtained in the Karen Read case. So where are his messages from 2020, when he was involved in Juston’s investigation?
You cannot demand transparency in one case and deny it in another. Release the texts. Reopen the investigation. Tell the truth. @MassAGO

I just hate her. We’re gonna sue this bitch!
But wait, she actually wrote a really good article! #sandrabirchmore#johnokeefe
My bad, I just need to start drinking.
During the second Karen Read trial, as additional information came to light about lead investigator Michael Proctor, who has since been fired and decertified, Norfolk County investigators appeared to distance themselves from his role in the investigation. Although Proctor was identified as the lead investigator, Sgt Yuri Bukhenik characterized him as the “case officer,” explaining that the other investigators had all worked equally on the death investigation of John O’Keefe.
That distinction is important when looking at the investigation into Sandra Birchmore.
Matthew Dunne was the case officer in Sandra’s death investigation. However, his supervisors, John Fanning, Yuri Bukhenik, and Brian Tully, were also involved in the investigation, with Fanning ultimately taking over what was effectively the lead role.
And Fanning and Bukhenik both have ties to Stoughton, the same department where Sandra entered the Police Explorer program at just 12 years old, where she was groomed by Stoughton Detective Matthew Farwell, and where the federal government now alleges she was sexually abused and raped by Farwell beginning when she was 15.
There is another connection that cannot simply be overlooked. The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office is located in Canton, and both the Assistant District Attorneys and the Massachusetts State Police investigators assigned to these cases operate out of that same building.
These are separate cases involving different victims and different circumstances. But when you look at the investigations side by side, there are striking similarities.
Both investigations were concluded extraordinarily quickly. Sandra Birchmore’s death was classified as a suicide within approximately four months. John O’Keefe’s death was attributed to his girlfriend Karen Read within hours.
In Sandra’s case, the initial investigation resulted in a conclusion that the federal government has since challenged. In John O’Keefe’s case, the investigation resulted in Karen Read being accused of causing his death, despite the extensive disputes that have since emerged over the evidence and the investigation itself.
Both cases also involved DNA evidence that was left untested on the victims.
So I think it is worth asking whether these investigations can really be viewed in isolation. You cannot look at Sandra Birchmore’s case and be appalled by the failures and unanswered questions surrounding the investigation, while simultaneously holding up the John O’Keefe investigation as an example of a thorough and reliable investigation without examining the people, institutions, and investigative practices they have in common.
The cases are different. The circumstances are different. But there is significant overlap in the investigators and the offices involved.
And ultimately, both investigations left families without the justice they were seeking, while critical questions about how those investigations were conducted remained unanswered.
@anonymasslawyer I thought she was guilty of accidentally backing into John and causing him to pass out. Because that was the narrative directly from the O’Keefe family. Likely because that was exactly what the police told them.
Kate is just amazing. Our harassment campaign would be nowhere without her amazing contributions! Fuck Turtlenuts I hate him! Kate just gets me! #freekarenread#turtleboy
💥Hate it or love it the McAlbert’s haven’t been charged with a crime.
💥IMO the focus belongs on the trusted public servants that have shamelessly betrayed their oaths.
Some are seemingly untouchable and still hold power!

@TeamFUKR The truth is there is not a snowballs chance in Hell BA was sleeping at 6am. Not a chance! His wife talked to Jen twice that morning. That’s the truth!
Brutal and tone-deaf headline. The allegations involve the statutory rape, grooming, physical and emotional abuse of a child that continued into young adulthood and allegedly resulted in the older man strangling her and then "framing her for her own murder."
Wait… I must have missed this paht at the meeting. Ah we now just sayin that she couldn’t have killed him? I’m confused. I need a drink. #turtleboy#karenreadtrial
It was never independent commentary. We know who was controlling the narrative all along.

@MamaLama43 What did you do for John Llama? Your friend let him die, accidentally exposed it to the world; and then you got Randy on trying to cover for her! Right?
