Penpal is in my top 3 horror literature of all time. I told my mom about the plot once (she’s also a horror fan) and she told me that they should adapt it into a movie or miniseries. She’s not big on reading books, so I’d love for her to be able to experience the story, too.
Penpal by Dathan Auerbach. An entire childhood charted by a stalker and a slowly dissolving best friendship. Managed to feel more confident and literary than other creepypastas. Equal parts off-putting and sentimental. Would be the best Stephen King adaptation King didn’t write.

what is the cost of allowing yourself to love again after devastation? what risk is there in putting your heart into someone while knowing firsthand how horribly it could end?
