With the increase in the intensity of the storms, fires, 1000 year and “never happened before here” events, when preparing for a disaster, please prepare for after the event.
You will receive A LOT of phone calls from different agencies. After the event is not the best time to make decisions. This is why preparing now for after an event is incredibly important. You’ll have more knowledge and be able to make more level headed decisions.
Your car may be damaged or destroyed. Will you be able to have it fixed or replaced with your car insurance.
If your child’s school is damaged or destroyed, do you have a learning plan in place for them.
PA‘s may show up at your event. They are knowledgeable but may take 10% or more of the amounts you receive from your ins co w/ or w/out performing the duties in the contract. To break the contract may cost you. You’ll be stressed but take time to read the contract before signing.
If renting, your lease may end the day of the event. Ask your leasing agent what the protocols are in the event of a disaster in your apartment complex and make plans from there. Also, consider whether or not you want to move to a different apartment in the same complex.
if you’re a homeowner, find a reputable contractor who will complete the work on ur home at a reasonable cost. Consider learning more about this step before you’re pressured into it by a disaster event. You will also need to secure your home and continue to pay your mortgage!
Your home may be unlivable, you’ll need a place to stay, clothing, shoes, toiletries, etc. Check your policy for personal belongings & hotel coverage. If you don’t have either, consider investing in it. The cost paid out of pocket after is expensive & all up to you without it.
Dear credit card companies,
What’s the actual payoff of the credit card balance because no one wants to receive a bill for a large amount of interest, that has to be paid in full (instead of the minimum payment), after paying off the bill.
Asking for a friend.

Leaving this thought here:
why are we more focused on #inflation and less focused on salary increases?
why are we more focused on ensuring our young people #vote and less focused on encouraging them to run for office?
