Things don't get better overtime, the idea that things get better with time is wishful thinking.
Things only get better as a result of continuous effort being applied or as a result of we starting to do things differently(1 Chronicles 4:10).
This week marks International Men's Week 2026.
I started to put together this thread last week & this morning - I have all my thoughts together.
From one man to another,
From the core of my heart to yours,
From the recognition of my struggles to yours,
I share this:
It's okay to put in a lot of work into whatever you are trying to make work, but sometimes achieving clarity and speed actually requires us to take a step back. I know this might seem counterproductive, but trust me, it does wonders. Take a step back today.
Our TV broke in December, and it changed our family.
We decided not to replace it for 6 months. Best decision ever.
Without a TV, the kids read more, play together, and spend evenings outside with friends. As a family, we talk more, laugh more, cook together, play games, and actually hang out.
On Saturday, we hosted our own family sip & paint with homemade meat pie, chicken wings, and puff puff. The whole day turned into laughter and connection instead of everyone behind screens.
It’s now 10 months, and we’ll likely end the year without a TV. Screentime is way down, family time is way up.
Best family experiment of all time.
We use the fruits of invention every day, all the time, without truly appreciating the massive ingenuity behind them. So many things are just mind-boggling to wrap our heads around.
Exposure is every bit as important as hard work. It builds our mind and creates strong desires within us.
Ultimately, we can't reach for what we are not exposed to.
