Zimbabweans living in the UK have submitted a petition to the UK Government's Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, urging the UK to sponsor a new, free, fair, and credible election in Zimbabwe. The petition says the fresh election should be monitored, observed, and supervised by the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), the Commonwealth, and the international community.

The call for a fresh election in Zimbabwe comes in response to the recent shambolic elections held in the country. These elections were widely criticized by observers, including a scathing report from SADC, which stated that the elections did not align with Zimbabwe's constitution, electoral laws, or SADC's election guidelines, to which all member states are committed too.
