How infuriating it must be to be the presidential sister— a senator, the self-styled brainy heir of dictator father’s legacy— and yet be shut out from the real levers of power. To be so close to Malacañang by blood but so far from its authority. To settle for cheap political points, press conferences, and now rally speeches, all to get the attention of the brother-turned-president who will not take her seriously. To drag the nation into a family feud to legitimize her tantrums.
I won’t be surprised if the alleged illegal drug use of the president is true. It must be hard to lose the party boy instincts that he so enjoyed during martial law years. But I ask Senator Imee, the other Marcos, to what end is this revelation? Is this in the public interest, or is it part of a more insidious political agenda? Why now during the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally? From the Zaldy Co videos to this, this feels like a grand script that ends with your brother removed from office and your political principal, Vice President Sara Duterte, assuming the presidency. And what might Sara Duterte presidency bring to the country (to answer Jimmy Bondoc)? An addiction to violence, to impunity, to unnecessary loss of lives. And that is an addiction this country cannot bear again.
To end this exhausting family drama, perhaps it’s time for Imee’s family to return to exile in Hawaii, and for the Dutertes to find their own exile in The Hague. Be gone, you two! Only then might Filipinos be spared from a dynastic feud shoved down our throats, one that keeps dividing the nation into their loyalists and supporters.
Respectfully, you don’t start giving swimming lessons to a drowning man, sir. You save him first.
Why didn’t the LGUs stop them from building there in the first place? Common folk don’t know where they can or can’t build. I mean-look at Slater Young.
Am I real? 😮
