It turns out there’s a scientific reason behind what you’re seeing.

Research suggests that being carried by a walking parent promotes a set of calming physiological effects for babies - who still their voluntary movements, stop crying, and experience reductions in heart rate when being carried.

Put simply, being carried helps babies relax. Some have even suggested that this is an evolutionary survival instinct - as parents and babies already in motion are best equipped to flee from danger.

It can be exhausting, for sure. But like most challenging baby behaviors, this one won’t last forever.
