Love is not passive. Love is not sentimental. Love is not complete if it does not reach the systems, policies, and practices that shape people’s daily lives.
When love is applied to justice, it requires us to care about who is harmed, who is excluded, who is denied dignity, and who is left without protection.
Social justice is one way love becomes visible in public life. It is how we build a society that reflects the humanity we say we believe in.
If we profess belief in God, who is Love, then love must inform how we treat people, how we govern, how we vote, and how we respond to injustice.
Be Love.

On April 3rd, 1865, 15,000 battle-hardened black men with rifles, joined with their white counterparts and fellow soldiers, marched into the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia after a series of fiery battles and placed the American flag there. They liberating 500,000 enslaved peoples in one day. They fought side by side with their brothers to become proud Americans, with love for this new country they built with their blood, sweat and tears. They are God’s Soldiers, and were a divine force in making the Constitution real for all Americans. Salute to them, and salute to the Independence they brought to America. Happy 4th. God’s Soldiers premieres in 2026. It’s been a true honor to tell their story.
The love that I feel, the love for my country, the land that we rose, the life we chose, I pledge to America, forever on.
