Το Φόρουμ “Ευρωπαϊκός Τουρισμός, Ανθεκτικότητα στην κλιματική κρίση-EU Tourism: Resilience in the Era of the Climate Crisis” στη Ρόδο, η πρώτη πανευρωπαϊκή συνάντηση αυτού του επιπέδου, πραγματοποιήθηκε με πρωτοβουλία της HOTREC, σε συνδιοργάνωση με την Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου και είχε ως στόχο την αναζήτηση τρόπων αντιμετώπισης της κλιματικής κρίσης από τους φορείς του τουρισμού σε ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο.

Στο άνοιγμα των εργασιών του Φόρουμ, στο Παλάτι του Μεγάλου Μαγίστρου, μίλησα για την αναγκαιότητα να ληφθούν άμεσα πρωτοβουλίες, καθώς διαφαίνονται ήδη οι επιπτώσεις της Κλιματικής Κρίσης που ανατρέπουν τα παραδοσιακά μοντέλα επιχειρηματικότητας στον τουρισμό.

Η Ελλάδα και οι επιχειρηματίες του τουρισμού λαμβάνουν ήδη μέτρα που προωθούν την αειφορία, μειώνοντας το ενεργειακό τους αποτύπωμα και εγκαθιστώντας μια κουλτούρα βιωσιμότητας και ανθεκτικότητας στη διαχείριση των τουριστικών προορισμών.

Ενημέρωσα τους εκπροσώπους της HOTREC για την επερχόμενη λειτουργία του Παρατηρητηρίου για τον Παράκτιο και Θαλάσσιο Τουρισμό στη Μεσόγειο, μια πρωτοβουλία του Υπουργείου Τουρισμού, ενώ επέμεινα στην αναγκαιότητα για την καθιέρωση μόνιμου Συμβουλίου Υπουργών Τουρισμού της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης καθώς και μιας διαρκούς Επιτροπής Τουρισμού.

Βρισκόμαστε σε μια κρίσιμη στιγμή, όπου οι ενέργειές μας μπορούν να διαμορφώσουν την πορεία του τουριστικού τομέα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.

Οι εργασίες του Φόρουμ ολοκληρώθηκαν με την υπογραφή διακήρυξης με την οποία οι φορείς θα αναλαμβάνουν συγκεκριμένες δεσμεύσεις για την κλιματική αλλαγή και τον ευρωπαϊκό τουρισμό.
