If you had told me 10 years ago that a billionaire would accuse humans of drinking too much water in 2026 because data centres need it to power the AI tech that is now threatening our entire way of life, I would have told you to write a better Bond villain, because wtf?
@SteffiGiraffe@VictoriaCoren They’re not officially defined regions in Cymru so the capitalisation isn’t necessary and comes down to personal preference (or a lack of thought about what the capitalisation means).
Fed up. Just spent 14 weeks at @nottsinquiry didn’t miss a minute as this was all I could do in my daughter Grace’s name against all those who failed.

@Feduptony153815@aledscourfield Race is a categorisation of humans based on shared physical, social or cultural characteristics so the answer to your question is in it.
If Plaid Cymru suggested all schools had to fly the Welsh flag and have a portrait of Owain Glyndwr in the communal area they'd be screaming nationalism.

"They sometimes say: ‘Ah, it’s a tradition.’
Slavery was a tradition. Racism was a tradition.
Homophobia was a tradition. We haven’t quite got rid of all of them, but we are justifiably trying to get rid of these abhorrent, out-of-date ideas. The idea that in the 21st century it's appropriate to charge around the countryside tearing animals to pieces with dogs is wrong, pure and simple"

This development proposal for Penrhos and Cae Glas is fundamentally ecologically unsound. It is impossible to construct up to 500 lodges, a tropical swimming pool, shops, bars, restaurants, and parking for 1,000 cars without inflicting irreversible damage on the area’s biodiversity. Another company would be simply the latest in a line of developers seeking to exploit this sacred land, threatening to strip away the peace and tranquility that the local community holds dear.
The ecological stakes are too high. This site is a vital sanctuary for the red squirrel, an endangered species that relies on this specific habitat. These creatures, along with our native wild bluebells, cannot simply be "relocated" or traded away. Furthermore, the felling of acres of ancient trees will destroy established bat flight corridors, further dismantling the local ecosystem.
The proposed "trade-off" involving the Cae Glas toxic dumpsite is entirely unacceptable. This land has been barricaded for 50 years for a reason; the coastal leachate remains a disaster waiting to happen, and it is irresponsible to encourage public access to such a site.
This project is outdated and out of touch. Since the outline planning of 2016, Welsh policies have evolved to prioritise genuine environmental protection, yet this plan relies on "greenwashing" tactics like tarmacking pathways, which is neither green nor eco-friendly. This development is a "white elephant" that threatens both the environment and the mental well-being of the people who rely on this landscape for its restorative stillness. It must not proceed.
The only viable way forward is to quash this planning application entirely and bring Penrhos under community ownership. This land should be managed by the community, for the community, in perpetuity.
By removing the threat of commercial exploitation, we can ensure that Penrhos remains a protected sanctuary where nature and people coexist. Community ownership would guarantee that the red squirrel habitats, ancient trees, and bluebell woods are preserved according to the needs of the ecosystem rather than the bottom line of a developer. This model would secure the site’s peace and tranquility as a permanent asset for public health and well-being, ensuring that this Welsh landscape is never again treated as a commodity, but as a legacy for future generations.

War is the biggest environmental crime on Earth.
Every bomb dropped poisons the air, the soil, and the water. Cities burn, ecosystems collapse, and generations inherit landscapes filled with toxins, rubble, and trauma. War doesn’t only kill people. It destroys the living systems that sustain life itself.
In a time of climate and ecological emergency, escalating conflict is a direct assault on the planet and on our shared future.
Extinction Rebellion stands against war.
Extinction Rebellion stands against ecocide.
A livable world cannot be built on endless violence. Peace, justice, and ecological protection are inseparable.
