We did it.
Last week, @appmcjguild members voted 94% in a strike vote. 24 hours later, we reached a handshake deal on a contract (and @hvnewsguild the day after).
Strikes work.
Breaking news: WE WON!!!!!!!!
We've reached a tentative agreement with Gannett on a 2-year deal with strong salary floors and delivers life-changing raises to many of our members.
Weโre also thrilled for our @hvnewsguild comrades, who also reached a TA.

@Joshua_Newman This is a sucker's bet.
Assuming this is about the jumbotron (in which case, it's a poorly worded prop), they are very obviously going to show Trump and Mamdani at the same time to cancel all the reactions out.

Big news for NJ public media: Montclair State will operate NJ PBS starting July 1. Our Center for Cooperative Media will help build the statewide journalism network behind it. Public TV, rooted in NJ, built on collaboration. #NewJersey#Journalism
July 2011. Four people in the gym - me, Karl-Anthony, and his parents. After the workout, Karl Sr. asked me what I thought.
My reply: "Karl, you're going to have to change your phone number."
The story of beloved media institutions in my lifetime is that they are taken over by people who don't love or understand them, and want to change them, and wind up destroying them.
๐จ๐จ This OPMA bill (S4116) limits public comment in 2 ways:
1 - No more right to public comment at workshop meetings (where many councils do the bulk of their work)
2 - Takes away your right to talk about ANY matter that concerns you. Council could try to limit topics!
If you want journalism to exist, maybe don't screenshot entire paywalled stories and post them on Twitter. You're not sticking it to the media industry, you're just making it harder for independent reporters to get paid for their work. Absolute loser behavior.
