In the short term, this reckless decision destroys Canada’s credibility, shreds the international rules-based order, and abandons the Western values we once proudly defended.

In the long term, the consequences are obvious: Hamas is rewarded, terror is legitimized, hostage-taking is vindicated, and the violent mobs who block streets, vandalize businesses, target synagogues, and even shoot up schools are handed a victory they don’t deserve. Canada just recognized a Palestinian state whose current “government” literally pays salaries to terrorists for killing people. That makes them a state sponsor of terror by Canada’s own definition.

Canada is weaker, smaller, and more isolated from our allies. Mark Carney’s vacuous foreign policy based on “pretend conditions” is cold, calculated, and done entirely for votes.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic mass casualty incident that took place earlier today in Hollow Water First Nation (Waanibiigaaw or Wanipigow in Ojibwe). This heartbreaking event claimed the life of one victim, left multiple others injured, including an RCMP Member, and also resulted in the death of the suspect. Our hearts are with everyone impacted.

One of our Members with the Manitoba RCMP was seriously injured while bravely responding to the call when the suspect attempted to flee and collided, possibly intentionally, with the Member’s police vehicle. Our Member's injuries are serious, but thankfully not life-threatening. Our thoughts remain with our injured Member, their family, colleagues, and community, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery. We will remain in close contact to support all Members and their families involved.

Our heartfelt condolences also go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives or were injured in this senseless act of violence.

Moments like this are a powerful reminder of the dangers our Members face each day. RCMP officers put their lives on the line to protect our communities, often under incredibly difficult and unpredictable circumstances.

I just got back from House of Commons orientation last night:

The scale of @MarkJCarney's betrayal of democratic norms is now sinking in.

Left or right, Canadians voted for a serious change in direction after the last 10 years of Trudeaupian misrule.

A budget is how you change direction as a new government. To have Trudeau's old industry minister / Carney's new finance minister @FPChampagne, tell us we won't be getting one means they aren't changing course at all.

Most of the new MPs at my orientation were red team. I sat next to @PhilipEarle and @vgasparro both days. In addition to being accomplished businessmen, they're genuinely nice guys. @CarlosJLeitao was at the next table over. His resume speaks for itself.

They all seem energetic and interested in rescuing Canada from its economic tailspin. So I have to ask; why would @MarkJCarney cut them out of the opportunity to try? Why would you bring them here just to tell them they won't be working on a budget this year? How dare you sign fake, Trump-inspired, Executive Orders while Trudeau's cabinet ministers flip off the Parliament with the power to actually make those decisions?

Surely, in their previous work in business and finance, none of these men, including the Prime Minister, would ever dream of running a $500M organization sans budget, much less a $500B organization like the Government of Canada.

I ran into a senior @liberal_party staffer who I happen to know on Wellington street. I asked him if he really thought it was chill to have no budget this year. Short answer was: it's too much work to get done before summer break.

This isn't right. Canada just sent 343 MPs to Ottawa (at ungodly expense btw) to do the people's work. We absolutely do *not* need a summer break one month later, particularly those who just enjoyed a 2.5 month prorogation/vacation.

Our leader, @PierrePoilievre has already said that Conservatives are willing to work all summer to rescue Canada from economic ruin. Please, @MarkJCarney, @FP_Champagne, take us up on it; let's hunker down and come up with a budget.

Last night, in a massive warehouse just outside Edmonton, something extraordinary happened. Fifteen thousand Canadians showed up—not for a concert, not for a protest, but for a political rally. For one reason: to hear Pierre Poilievre speak. But the real shock? The man who introduced him.

Stephen Harper—the most successful Conservative prime minister in a generation—took the stage to deliver a blistering endorsement of Poilievre, and a scathing indictment of the Liberal regime.

He didn’t mince words. Harper said what every Canadian knows but no one in the press gallery will admit: this country needs change—desperately.

And he didn’t hedge. He didn’t qualify. He didn’t say “both parties have made mistakes.” No. Harper made it clear: this crisis—soaring costs, collapsing standards, vanishing jobs, growing division—it wasn’t created by Donald Trump. It was made right here. In Ottawa. By three terms of Liberal government and the Prime Minister who wants a fourth.

And now, as Mark Carney floats in with his $180 million CBC top-up and another round of green buzzwords, Harper reminded everyone: they’ve had their shot. Three terms. And they blew it.

He warned Canadians not to fall for the same routine again. Not to fall for the same slogans. Not to fall for the polished elites promising “solutions” to the very problems they created.

He reminded Canadians that while the Liberals talk about “fighting Trump,” they’re really just using the U.S. as a scapegoat for their own failures. And what did Harper offer instead? A rallying cry to seize this moment—not as an excuse—but as an opportunity to rebuild a truly independent Canada.

“The challenge from the United States… should not be another excuse for Liberal failure. It should be a historic opportunity.”

But the line that hit hardest? It was personal. Harper reminded everyone that he’s the only person alive who actually led Canada through the global financial crisis.

That little swipe at Mark Carney—you could feel the building rumble.

Carney wants credit for crisis leadership? Harper was running the country when the global economy was imploding. He knows what real leadership looks like—and he said flatly that Pierre Poilievre is the only one on the stage today who’s shown it.

Stephen Harper stood up and told the country what it needs to hear: Pierre Poilievre is ready to lead.

Not because of branding. Not because he’s a “fresh face.” Not because some elite committee in Ottawa thinks it’s his turn. No—because he earned it.

Harper laid it out plainly. Poilievre started in the back row. He built his career not on media hype or party privilege, but on policy work, persistence, and a rock-solid conservative vision. He wasn’t parachuted in. He wasn’t picked by insiders. He clawed his way up with substance.

“Pierre is not new to this. He’s been on the national scene for more than two decades. He has been in cabinet. He has been in opposition. He’s a serious policy-maker. A leader who has grown through experience.”

That’s what Stephen Harper said. And you could hear the crowd erupt when he said it.

Because Canadians are desperate—desperate—for someone who doesn’t just play politics, but actually understands the fight. Someone who knows how Parliament works. Someone who has taken on the gatekeepers—and won.

And Harper wasn’t just praising Poilievre’s résumé. He called him what the man actually is: an ideas-driven, battle-tested leader who has spent his entire career pushing back against the smug, bloated, bureaucratic class that now defines Ottawa.

Imagine that. A politician who talks about work—and means it.

Harper could’ve stayed silent. He’s done the job. He’s earned his peace. But he stepped into that warehouse in Nisku for one reason: to make it clear that this is Pierre’s moment—and Canada can’t afford to miss it.
