ran an AI visibility audit on @PlanetScale. three findings:
1) they completely own their category. ask about mysql or vitess at scale and they are the answer.
2) Postgres is a different story. they shipped it, the models haven't caught up.
3) and the recommendations that do get made? they mostly come from third-party comparison pages. written by other people. about other companies.
that third one is the part most teams miss. you don't rank in AI answers, you get cited into them.

Composio appears in 86% of AI recommendations.
Strong result - but the headline hides the real opportunity.
It dominates managed authentication queries, yet loses ground on broader buyer questions. Meanwhile, competitors like Nango help control the sources AI tools trust.
I took a closer look at one prompt where @composio ranked lower.👇

SEO takes months.
AI search can move in days.
@resend wasn’t recommended for “cheapest email API for an early-stage startup.”
Why? AI found better pricing sources for competitors.
That’s a source gap - and @bydefaultso helps you find and close it.
For the full @resend audit, my co-founder @joshtriedcoding made an in-depth breakdown video.
If you want to influence AI recommendations, comparison pages can often be more valuable than another thought-leadership post.
AI assistants need clear sources when users ask:
"Supabase vs Convex"
"Drizzle vs Prisma"
"best backend for a Next.js app"
"Supabase alternatives"
If you don't publish that source, your competitor will.

Your buyer may decide before your analytics ever records a visit.
→ They ask ChatGPT which tool to use.
→ ChatGPT recommends your competitor.
→ You are missing from the answer.
→ They may click them, trust them, or never compare you at all.
→ You see nothing in Google Analytics.
That’s the invisible buyer journey we track at @bydefaultso.

A founder quit the last tool like this because it only told him he was losing.
Data without a next step is useless.
See the gap. Then close it - that's @bydefaultso.

AI visibility for SaaS isn’t just about your own website.
For a single prompt, AI models may rely on Reddit, YouTube, Wikipedia, comparison pages, or “best tools” listicles.
With @bydefaultso, you can see:
which companies get recommended
which sources shape those answers
where your real visibility gaps are
And those gaps are often off-site.
We’re currently doing a few manual AI visibility audits for SaaS companies.
If you want to see how your company compares to competitors in AI answers, DM me.
Knowing where you stand in AI visibility is only one side of the equation.
Knowing what to do next - and actually improving it - is the other.
ByDefault helps with both.
Tracking AI visibility is useful.
Knowing what to do about it is much more valuable.
The goal with @bydefaultso is simple:
Measure → understand the gaps → act → measure again.
If you want to know where your company currently stands in AI search, DM me or @joshtriedcoding.
