Japon edebiyatında yıllardır anlatılan çok zarif bir rivayet vardır.

Ünlü yazar Natsume Sōseki, öğrencilerinden birinin İngilizcedeki "I love you" cümlesini doğrudan "Seni seviyorum." diye çevirdiğini duyunca bunun Japon ruhunu yansıtmadığını söyler.

Ona göre Japonlar sevgiyi açıkça dile getirmekten çok, hissettirerek anlatır.

Bu yüzden şöyle çevrilmesini önerir:

月が綺麗ですね。
Tsuki ga kirei desu ne.
"Ay bu gece ne kadar güzel, değil mi?" 🌙

Çünkü aynı aya bakan iki insanın, aslında birbirlerine söylemek istediği tek bir cümle vardır:

"Seni seviyorum."

Bu anlatı çok sevilen bir edebiyat rivayetidir. Gerçekten yaşanıp yaşanmadığı kesin olarak bilinmese de, Japon kültüründe sevginin zarafetini anlatan en güzel hikâyelerden biri olarak yaşamaya devam eder.
