@dustinswedelson@jbensimonlfc Based on this, I’d say Crystal Palace. Sure, they aren’t going to win the Premier League, but they’ve managed to win a few trophies like the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League in recent years (ascendency) and been able to stay in the EPL consistently for a good while now.
@theoldzealand It was shocking to see Ecuador so out of sync last night. South America is also known to have plenty of tough places to play so I’m stunned they were thrown off by the atmosphere at the Azteca. Mexico is probably really underrated right now.
@theoldzealand As usual, you nailed it in your preview: the team changed its style of play from the past, but it’s clear that ended disastrously for them. Management went completely the wrong way and now it’s like they have to rebuild almost from scratch. Tough road but it’s possible long term.
@theoldzealand I’m surprised to see how effective Panama has looked on the counterattack. Those last 10-15 minutes were really good for Panama, chance to build on that in the second half.
@theoldzealand The problem is that we know Panama will also Haram their way through the England match and this told us what we knew deep down but couldn’t admit about the Three Lions after the Croatia match: they just can’t break down a low block, and they don’t face it often enough in Europe.
@DukesTailgate I don’t have many issues here. Scheduling is tough when you’re a consistently good program. Power conferences don’t want to play a team like JMU because it’s no-win for them. My only wish is that the FCS team was someone better than awful Wagner but you try to get what you can.
@soconhoops With 10 football playing members already, you want a non-football school. 11 is a terrible number of trans for scheduling.
Winthrop would be fine, but I’d rather see UNC Asheville or High Point. Don’t stretch the geographic footprint bigger than it already is.
@FUHoopsInsider Southland favorite McNeese State also in danger against UTRGV, headed for triple OT now. Could the Vaqueros help Furman and make their first dance ever? (They’ll still need to beat SFA tomorrow but I can still hope.)
@matt_kimberly9 Pretty sure he doesn’t want it, and why should he? He’s got a great environment, student support, financial backing (Timmons Arena needed a revamp and got it), ability to compete and make a name, and none of the crap the major conference schools have to face. He’s happy here.
@ArchBell@FurmanMBB I was there ‘96-‘00. Had to suffer through where they had to forfeit a conference game because they scheduled too many non-conference games.
The game they forfeited? The Citadel 🤮🤮🤮
Niko Medved built a foundation where this program had none. Richey has built a palace on top.
For weeks now, the refrain has simply been “three wins in March” and all the injuries and challenges they went through this season got them exactly that. This was the team we all knew they could be all season and they showed it when it mattered most!
@TrollFootball Lechia hurt by starting the season on -5 points for financial reasons, so that helps explain one part of it all. But yeah, been following the Ekstraklasa for a while and it’s always kind of crazy.
@Tim_Denning Thank you. This Is what needed to see. Confirms my belief that I need to hold the job where I am while gradually building the legit value-add business to companies I know that I can deliver in time.
@HarrogateTown I’m concerned about the long-term issues with the club, like how I almost don’t know who half the starting XI are. Injuries have been horrific but there’s got to be some sort of insurance against that and it’s clear that hasn’t happened. Not sure any other manager can save this.
@FUHoopsInsider “Tom House has especially suffered the extra attention given to him without the gravity of Anderson and Smith from last season.”
That quote right there most strongly and accurately describes what’s wrong with their 3-point shooting so far, so they need to go inside more.
@Michaelsdavisjr They don’t have a shooter like Pegues or P’Jay Smith to lean as much on. House has had good nights but I haven’t seen him ready to be the guy yet. Thomas is worth watching. I’d be fine with seeing this team change style and focus on an inside game but it’s still early.
