They had so many traumatic or just plain sad things happen to Will that there wasn’t time for the narrative to address all of them. The fact that the construction of Castle Byers is part of his Sorcerer film reel with no reflection on its subsequent destruction is insane.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is phenomenal right from the first scene of BACKROOMS, but the scenes where he’s wandering around and exploring the spaces alone for the first time are just unbelievable. There’s so much happening in his every expression and movement.
not enough talk about how great chiwetel ejiofor was in backrooms. i know the movie came out like two days ago but the way he acts in That One Scene is so upsetting and scary 😭
The best thing Kane Pixels ever did was ignore every fucking idiot who wanted him to make his rendition of the Backrooms into a glorified SCP foundation knock off with stupid ass Jumanji rules
Honestly, the lost potential of canon byler is particularly devastating to me because, unlike most popular gay ships in fandom, the question wasn't "will the writers develop these two characters to have feelings for each other?" It was -
@JaneSmi59961167 Hate it when mfs act like byler is just another fandom made duo that the writers just picked up because I was there when the S2E9 script dropped in 2018, yeah bylers existed before s2 but the writers room independently came up with Will having feelings for Mike.
@sorcererspaladn Also question I forgot to ask - does he really drink at the funeral? I can’t check at the moment as I don’t have the Netflix app on my phone but I thought the only time we saw him drinking was in s1e5 when he was doing it with Joyce
@sorcererspaladn I think that was less about alcoholism and more so him trying to manipulate Joyce in to his favor. His whole motive for coming back was because he wanted to make money off of Wills death.
If you removed the beer cans from the set he’d still be manipulative, selfish, homophobic-
@sorcererspaladn It’s a tiny set detail that never gets emphasized repeatedly like, for example, the way Hopper is shown drinking early in the morning. I feel like people exaggerate this detail’s importance to the point we’re building our own character instead of trying to analyze what we have
