@DrSweets24 Punchline/wordplay wise I agree but the imagery and narration in Weston Road Flows and Views are still elite. Those songs are better produced as well.
@bobbyhavvoc@LexDiamonds__@theartguy5 yea no prob! double entendres have been skewed these past couple years to mean just a layered line when thatโs not the case. They are pretty difficult to make work and thatโs why they are the gold standard for rappers as far as literary devices go
@bobbyhavvoc@LexDiamonds__@theartguy5 technically no but itโs very rare youโll see a double entendre be used with a punchline/simile (like or as) because the punch is set up to hit hard on a literal meaning with wordplay etc. Looney over tunes works when talking about wayne
@LexDiamonds__@bobbyhavvoc@theartguy5 โtook the ak outโ works as getting arrested for having a gun on one level. But youโd still need the following line to imply heโs talking about taking letters out his name. He has sneaky doubles here and there (esp during the beef) but leans more on punchlines/schemes usually
@BrownRapFan he teased it in the zine and the reaction to the leak was way too good for it not to be plus itโs rumored he did a second verse itโs gonna be on there
@hypeziii Them touring etc. and thatโs what made Kendrick jump out the way he did on Like That. To conclude Drake has been trying to mend things for years whereas Kendrick clearly had an underlying itch to engage him in battle for the past decade.
@DrSweets24 I thought it was pretty smooth but his singing isnโt good enough to carry a whole project. If he rapped on the majority of the verses I feel like it wouldโve been a lot better. I wouldnโt have even minded full r&b cuts at that point because it wouldโve been less monotonous.
@Yeet4242 it just seems like that song was destined for the grammy stage. Perhaps they wanted Pharrell included more with the performance instead of a John Legend hook.
@gothamhiphop that makes sense I guess. I think they wanted to include pharrell in the performance more instead of a John Legend hook. So Far Ahead has a good chorus but the verses are pretty technical rap wise, which they performed well but it would land better with a more rap centric crowd
