I feel immense personal gratitude for the privilege of rededicating the historic St. George Utah Temple today at the invitation of President Russell M. Nelson. I consider this one of the sweetest and most rewarding assignments I have had in my years as a General Authority for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This marvelous edifice holds a special place in my heart. Five generations of my family—including my parents and Pat and I—were married for eternity in this temple. Furthermore, I was baptized here at age eight and endowed here at age 19. I couldn’t love any other spiritual home more than I love this one.

Pat was so thrilled when this project was undertaken and even more thrilled when we got the assignment to participate in its rededication. But even though she has gone ahead on her own spiritual journey, I believe she was surely allowed back for this event. I am confident many in the congregation today had loved ones attending from the spirit world.

We love and cherish our dedicated temples and the essential, exalting ordinances that are performed there. We thank heaven that more of them are being built, giving each of us greater access to them. Temples of the Lord are truly the holiest, most sacred structures in the kingdom of God.
