For some the holidays are days to count down to, with good memories to make with your family. For others, itโs a time for high performance, anxiety, loneliness, amongst others. If you fall in the latter category, hereโs a care checklist for you.
Have you ever had days when you did a lot but still feel unsatisfied and days when you didn't do as much but you still feel good? One contributed significantly to your sense of achievement, while the other didn't. To hack this, create an achievement list!
3 reminders about change:
1. You can't use todays insight to judge yesterday's decisions.
Give yourself grace.
2. Sometimes creating the environment for change to happen is a step forward.
3. Self compassion will take you a lot further than self judgement

It can be tricky trying to determine if the person you're speaking to is a safe space. Sometimes, having an initial consult session that is typically 15 minutes long, helps.
You can also reach out to other people within the community to get referrals. Some directories lists LGBTQIA+ affirming therapists, these can also help narrow things down. How do you determine safety for yourself in a session?
