Today, Brad Lander, rabbis, and other New Yorkers accompanied Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. For that, they were detained by the Israeli government.ย
Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is.
I am thankful that Brad has been released. But other New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately.
The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone.ย
The detention of these New Yorkers must end. The occupation must end. The genocide must end.
The United States is about to walk off the field, ceding a major economic lever for the 21st century to China. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
@GovStitt Pretty annoying to pretend that itโs an either/or. Even you believe in regulation. Otherwise you wouldnโt be telling women what healthcare they can and cannot purchase.
THREAD: It is with sadness that I tell you about Justin Henderson, who died in the downtown Houston jail. He was trapped there during a pandemic because he couldn't pay a few hundred dollars in cash. Although no media reported his death, his story is important.
First sleepless night in years. Not sure if itโs that I ate at a churrascaria last night (more red meat than Iโve had in months), had two cups of coffee yesterday (which I never do), or am excited about settling in to nyc tomorrow. ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ
@GovStitt Does the fact that Gov Stitt still mentions the 1973 embargo when discussing energy policy say something about how up to date he and his policies are?
Could such a move be an effective political force for masking and vaccination policy as well as compliance? I think yes on policy and no on compliance. But healthcare is already very strained and nurses in particular are in high demand. So maybe so ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ. A really troubling idea tho
Is anyone else afraid of an employment revolt of healthcare professionals? A nurse suggested to me the possibility of a mass walkout. Ofc, thatโd be very bad. But what is sadly more palatable is a mass refusal to treat non masking and unvaccinated adults that are COVID19-ill.
But when public advice from political institutions is reason for mass illness, is it that hard to imagine healthcare professionals breaking: either quitting in mass or refusing to serve those who flout their advice. Are we that far from this reality?
Hurricanes are even trickier because wind speed seems to linearly correlate with hurricane category. But power and potential damage isnโt a linear correlation with wind speed.
