I had the shingles vaccine after I had shingles on my scalp. This was prior to covid vaccines, so I had no trepidation regarding vaccines. My shingles only lasted for a few weeks before the skin cleared and the pain ceased.

My late father had shingles when in his 70's, rash went away but disabling pain remained for several years, essentially rendering him unable to carry on a normal routine.
