A mom drinks at her 11-year-old’s football practices.

Yesterday she brought wine in a Hydro Flask and an actual wine glass. Sat on the bench with a book. Poured a glass.

Another mom walks up: “Are you drinking wine at football practice?”

Yes. Yes she is.

She argues that practices are three freaking hours. She doesn’t leave him there. She did that once when he was 9 and they ended early and left him standing there alone. So she stays. She has no idea what’s happening on the field. She hates sports. She has zero sense for any of it.

What the hell else are you supposed to do?

Just hand the keys over to the kid next time.

This young man posted a video about how he earns money.

The homeowner gave him $40 to mow, blow and weed whack. The kid has motivation!

My son is 10 years old and he has built his own little business.

For the past three years he goes out on garbage and recycling day as soon as he gets off the bus. He hits 20 houses one week and 20 the next to coordinate with a twice a month cleaning. He charges $20 a month.

He takes the cans, sprays them with Zep and scrubs them with Dawn dish detergent before rinsing them out. He spends about 5-10 minutes at each house. He then flips them upside down. Once finished, he goes back around to each house and moves the cans to where they belong after they are dried. Takes him about an hour and a half at most.

Three years later and he has more cash on hand than I do.

Encourage your kids to be productive. Encourage them to get after it!
