I wonder if, like 6mo after the AI pause is successful, there's some kind of mass, economy-tanking resignation as people in millions of jobs are like, "Why am I wasting my life on this lame job that my laptop could do by itself if they'd just let it?"
What if it just finishes us off, spiritually, to be doing work we know for certain could definitely be done by a computer, but we're only still doing it as humans because... reasons?
This kind of thing -- making someone write out sentences long-hand thousands of times for no productive reason -- is a punishment, not a career.
The Pausers are gonna end us all up in the worst possible state, where millions know their job is now just pointless busywork, but replacing it is just out of reach for the tech.
This is just insane…
My GPT-4 coding assistant can now:
- build and design a frontend
- create a backend with working db
- correctly hook them up
- upload code to GitHub
- deploy it to Vercel
I can now build *complete* apps with nothing more than my voice.
The future is here!
8. Robotics
AI enables robots to perform tasks more efficiently, safely, and intelligently.
Similar to self-driving cars, it helps robots:
- to learn from experience
- to make complex decisions
- recognize objects, people, environments, and adapt to it
Tencent released the model and code for their text2video system. There model is very similar to SD but with a 3D U-Net. I was most interested in the design of their U-Net, but there were a ton of details, however, I found this section interesting in light of more recent work.
this is a san fancisco coffee shop at 11am in the morning.
packed wall to wall with ambitious founders working on startups.
there is no other city in the world like it
It is staggering how many working people struggle to describe the actual real world problem they are tackling at work.
They always mention intermediary problems, instead of the final human problem.
Even worse, sometimes there is no real human problem being solved.
Powell’s hikes took US govt interest expense from 15% to 32% (proforma) of ATH tax receipts at a time when Entitlements were already 62% of ATH receipts…& now receipts are falling (bc they’re rate-sensitive)
Gold knows Powell’s gonna have to “print the interest & Entitlements.”
