An awful lot of people out there mistake foreign fear of uncertainty and pragmatic attempts to salvage something for their countries as respect and appreciation for strength. They've no clue of what politicians caring for their whole country's well-being looks like.

@osint_69 My part of rural Tennessee you would never see a Tesla, and would get hate from all the coal-rollers. Now that Musk is all-in on Trump, they're popping up like toadstools, with even a Cybertruck in a town of 11k people.

@congozaire2030 @BarbieAgitprop As I tell my students, when you make this sort of statement with the word 'but' in it, anything prior to the 'but' is meaningless. He just implied women are his property that he can do with as he will. That's not a minor issue, especially if he's doing it to more than one person.

What's with the men whining about women shutting them out of their lives? Guys, get a grip. Learn something interesting - not to impress them, but for you. Get out and do things - for you. Meet people who have shared interests, because friends or more, it's fun. Chill out.

@MarkDjpag101 @Andie00471 Take a look at the Corn Laws that were in place in the UK during the 19th century. They were meant to protect British farmers from foreign products. All that happened is wealthy landowners controlled the crops and set prices at just below what the tariffed foreign grain sold at.

The reality for most Americans is they have no connection between policy choices and the political, the processes from the parties. When they strip away the tribalism, and look at what simply is, _even if they still disagree_, what results is tolerable, acceptable... sane.

So, I teach Government and Democracy at an independent school in the South. Many of my students are liberal; many are conservative. You know what? I don't care which they are. I really don't. But what I do insist on is that they back up their positions with reality.

You know what results from that? Sanity. Once students learn to take in multiple sources of info, multiple views, their positions become sensible. They may not agree with my positions. I may not agree with them. But they are understandable, they are workable, they are humane.

I'm looking to add a parallel element to my government course for high schoolers. It would be a series of quick standalone modules done online to teach them basics of being a citizen. How jury duty works. What vote registration and voting looks like. What else should I cover?

@speechboy71 Americans have a political memory of about two years. January 6th and the last terrible year of Trump's first term were still just fresh enough in mind to prevent the backlash - but two more years was enough to let that slide away.

Otherwise your answer for the data point is just speculation - just like every other accusation of fraud being slung around currently. 62 lawsuits didn't show anything in court for 2020.
