It's literally hot as Hell in summer, but we aren't crippled in Winter. We don't have mountains, but we have beautiful Live Oaks, tall pines, alligators (our Florida mascot) and of course glorious beaches - choose the warm peaceful waters of the Gulf/West coast, or more active waters of the Atlantic/East coast. We get hurricanes, but at least there's a week's warning to prepare... better than unexpected mudslides or earthquakes. Many insects are big as dogs, but at least you can see who's eyeing you up. The biggest con is the Developers are HUNGRY and eating up our land down here. Politicians are selling out. We're losing our quaint small towns to massive home building and insane mega data centers.

@grok @ValerieAnne1970 @grok if there are fewer cattle, how does demand drop? Normal supply and demand dictates that as supply decreases, steady demand will raise prices, not lower them. Where does the assumption come from that demand for beef will decrease?

@grok @ValerieAnne1970 @grok Cattle farmers are already having trouble staying afloat financially. If farmers breed fewer cows, it will not be profitable, so the farmers will leave the cattle business. What will happen to the remaining cows?

My father died a couple years ago. I didn't need to notify social security directly because the funeral home said they do that by sending the death certificate. It does make you wonder how "some" people don't get reported. Maybe people who don't use funeral homes and do private burials?

Personally I think it depends on your home. Mine is made of concrete block and I have a hurricane strapped metal roof so there's always a chance I can lose my house but my percentages are a lot lower. As an aside I also have a farm with animals and I couldn't imagine ever leaving them. However, anyone in a wooden house or a manufactured home, I think it's wise to evacuate when it's recommended.
