I sure hope my fellow early career scholars applied to be a part of this group for next year. I truly enjoyed sharing life and research with my group! Truly grateful to them, my catalyst scholar @scottgravesjr, and the @sssp_sprcc !
Our 1st Early Career Scholar spotlight is Dr. Chathuri Illapperuma-Wood, a research associate at University of Utah, who attended SPRCC in 2022. Her research interests include school-based & tele-mental health and she is in a group with @scottgravesjr as the Catalyst Scholar.
Excited for the partnership between @aaronjfischer, @uttec_lab, @uofu_hmhi, and @Cambia to improve mental health resources in schools. 1 in 6 U.S. children are diagnosed with mental health issues, so this is a challenge that the experts @UUtah will continue to confront.
With the Holidays coming up, it can get quite overwhelming--It’s important to take care of yourself during these times. Here are some ways to support your mental health and well-being.
Finding the right mental health support can be overwhelming, that’s why @Safe_UT makes it easy to access safe mental health support and resources. Get started with the SAFEUT app to find the right support for you!
@UtahSMHCollab Definitely- technology has been a blessing. It takes time for communities to see and accept the benefits of telehealth, but technology has allowed us to creatively address some of those pressing concerns that our families, schools, and communities encounter #UtahSMHChat
@UtahSMHCollab Q3-Minimal training opportunities for educators and school staff around mental health topics! The more people we train on these topics ( in addition to mental health staff) the more availability of support for our students! #UtahSMHChat
@UtahSMHCollab A2-It is definitely been on the rise and a lot of factors contribute to those trends- shortage of providers in schools and communities- mental health awareness among youth- parent engagement- the pandemic- the lost goes on... #UtahSMHChat
@UtahSMHCollab Lots of suicide ideation and attempts- mostly occurring among high school students! The rates are very reflective of the data for suicide rates among youth in Utah! #UtahSMHChat
I am truly humbled by the opportunity to give back to my community and grateful to my @uttec_lab family who nurtures my passion! Thank you #CECP for believing in this work!
Congrats to @uttec_lab postdoc, @c_illapperuma for receiving the @apa 2021 Early Career International Psychology Grant from the #CECP. Chat will work to create a technology-based training program to increase mental health literacy for educators in Sri Lanka 🎉🎊
The @uttec_lab has grown since last year! A huge shout out to all of the new and returning members of our team! We're excited for all our collaboration this year! @UofUEducation @UUtah
