With this being the end of Hockey Night in Canada on CBC it only makes sense to post this. If you were a 90s kid like me, this is what you saw every Saturday night. The music, the intros, were as iconic as the games themselves. A very sad day.
I’ll never forget this one.
Mats Sundin scores a game winning clapper… from just inside the blue line… with no traffic… shorthanded… in overtime… to complete the hat trick… for his 500th NHL goal.
Legendary.
Whistling it by Dion Phaneuf, who would become the next Leafs captain, is a nice little Easter egg, too.
From May 22, 1999, here's the Hockey Night in Canada intro for Game 1 of the 1999 Western Conference Finals between the Colorado #Avalanche and Dallas #Stars.
