Hot off the press 🎉 Energy, Motion, Unified! Self-folding turns planar films into sub-mm batteries with built-in actuation. At this scale, integration isn’t just stacking tech; it’s aligning ion transport, hydration, and mechanics into one system. https://t.co/1JyRAVqtnB
Excited to join this NanoGe discussion. In my talk I’ll explore a different angle:
Why do safe materials become even more critical when batteries shrink to the sub-mm scale?

Delighted to host Leiting! Many thanks to Leiting, Profs. Nianjun Yang, Oliver Schmidt, Olfa Kanoun for their contributions to a successful PhD defense—my first Summa cum laude graduate! A truly exciting milestone and great discussions ahead!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to @TUChemnitz and @tudresden_de in the past several days, many thanks to my local hosts, Dr. @c_minshen and Dr. @MinghaoYu_TUD. Highly interesting and relevant research progress shared by the two research groups, truly looking forward to fruitful collaborations from materials to systems and devices!
I had two great days at Dresden and Chemnitz @TUChemnitz, gave a MAIN lecture, and met great new friends @main@c_minshen@MinghaoYu_TUD. The historic buildings in the city are amazing.
These experiments show the development of an “ion harvester” battery that, when used in soil, generates energy through capillary action driven by these mini Swiss Rolls.

Hot off the press! https://t.co/Dzut4u6HX9 Favourite recent article. We studied how confined space at the micrometer scale and capillary forces can be used to access active ions in soil for energy storage. Many open questions, many possibilities. @AdvPortfolio@ERC_Research
@LeitingZhang@angstromABC@chem_angstrom @UU_University Powerful fruit battery … Exactly the same thing my group is doing for Science Long Night in Dresden/Chemnitz.
Before we also discussed the overpublishing phenomenon.

Too many low quality papers. Just too many. In electrocatalysis and batteries, finding a really good study is getting quite hard unless you know where to look for. In AI, quantum comp, etc, it’s way worse. Some of the trash people publish in electrocatalysis I discussed in:
https://t.co/Zj2VgtXJW5
This is why publishing less is better, in my view. For example, myself I am trying to minimize the number of research papers I publish (by increasing the quality of each one, of course within the scope of a PhD degree). I know some professors who follow the same approach, but overall it’s rare. Which is most unfortunate.
DPD @dpd_de is the WORST delivery service ever! 🤬 My package is late for two weeks, customer service is useless, and they don't even care! Avoid DPD like the plague! 😡 #NeverAgain

Today marks a monumental achievement! My PhD student, Zhe Qu, defended her thesis. A big thank you to @KanounOlfa , Prof. Kai Zhang at University of Göttingen, and @MinghaoYu_TUD for your insights. Zhe Qu will join Jinhua Sun’s group in Chalmers University of Technology soon.
Hornored to be a part of Early Career Forum 2024 @ACS_AMI We shared our progress in using micro-origami technology to create tiny energy storage devices and hope more colleagues will join to crack the dimension limit of batteries https://t.co/W9SpGboJHx
