Big news in the lawsuit against Florida's gender-affirming care bans for trans youth, and for debunking claims by state leaders that trans people aren't real.
"Gender identity is real," a federal judge wrote. "The record makes that clear." @OrianaBeLike https://t.co/uf5fb2qAT1
Imagine claiming that a few Bible verses on human sexuality are literal divine commands from God for all of society, all while claiming the +3,000 verses calling for the care of immigrants, the marginalized, the oppressed, and the poor should just be a personal choice.
@inlayterms @RichardWGarnett @YMI_Yale @namingproject Of course! I’m familiar with your work. I coordinate a safe space and I’m always scoping out supportive resources for youth. Thank you for what you do!
@erinjeanwarde Bama culture truly is a whole scene. Will never forget moving there (Bham) and seeing a whole family decked out in their Alabama garb from head to toe … at the zoo… in the summer.
@KyleSiegYazbec The emergency people apologized - apparently it was supposed to be a TV test alert at at time when it would disturb the fewest TV watchers.
The slate of anti-LGBTQ legislation in Florida is obscene. I was once “conservative” when I believed that meant limited government. The overreach of power, the demonization of a minority population for political gain, and the scope of censorship at play here are dystopian. 🧵
And I’ll say it again, and again, and again (together with every major medical association in this country) — GENDER AFFIRMING HEALTH CARE SAVES LIVES.
